Ampol’s new logo looks like a pile of crap. I really think they should have just stuck with the logo they had from the 1980s onward.

I don’t mind it

It’s a bit boring, and I don’t like how it’s not centred with the word mark

Yeah. I don’t like the stylised A as their logo which looks like a lambda Λ.

Just out of curiosity, was Pizza Hut bringing back its original pre 2000 logo? I believe in the US it’s reverted back.

I want Caltex back

Why? At least the Ampol name has Australian heritage (Australian Motorists’ Petrol Company) unlike the California Texas Oil Company brand.

It was a sad day when the Ampol brand disappeared. Glad to see it bag but I’m not sold on the new logo.

Have to agree. Anything with Australian local heritage will do well at the moment.

The original Pizza Hut logo was far more superior. Hopefully we also see it reverted back in this country.

Pizza Hut was such a dominant brand in the 80/90s in Australia, but since the early 2000s it’s faded away.

Took this pic of one of the last dine-in restaurants in Australia. Ballarat March 2020

Seeing how the reliance on so many imported goods and offshored services has affected Australia in recent times, I can see a resurgence in the support of locally produced goods and services.

I’ve eaten there, it’s ok but they’ve slowly dropped a few items. I think they could do a big business in the future with some of these types of retro dine in stores, add some arcade machines and you could dine off their retro success as well as Toy Story etc

I like the logo, don’t like the font.
It’ll be interesting to see the design & aesthetic of the reskinned servos.

Agree. Some items would need to change to accommodate a 2020 market, but I could see a come back with some retro elements within the restaurants.

What could have looked better is if the blue and red lines were extended below the AMPOL name. That way, it could have looked like the name of the company was the bar across the A.

I don’t mind it to be honest, the wordmark takes inspiration from the original with the italic “A”, and the large “A” icon incorporates the blue from the previous, while also working well for Social Media usage with its compact construction. It also has a slight Caltex vibe as it looks like the top of a 5-point star.

Curious to see what the branding applications will look like, as the video contained slanted elements.

It reminds me of a airline tail-fin, kind of like Qantas since the wordmark is on the same angle as the logo.

I must be in the minority here - I prefer the Caltex brand and the newer Pizza Hut logo…

While the old one may have been fine in the 1980s and 1990s, I think Ampol have made the right decision in bringing in a new logo.

As for Pizza Hut…the classic “Red Hut” symbol might still work today but surely not the “Pizza Hut” text?! Anyway, with some of the divergences that Pizza Hut Australia have made in recent years (most notably the Coca-Cola Amatil deal) it wouldn’t surprise be if our franchise decides not to follow the US lead by bringing back the old logo.

Yeah. The old text looks very 70s.

Caltex can RIP. I prefer the newer Pizza Hut logo too.

IIRC they reverted to the old Pizza Hut logo after / as part of a Stranger Things promo? Nonetheless 80’s nostalgia has been big in recent years.
