ABC’s Dan Bourchier (who is hosting on NC) just called Michael McCormack a former Prime Minister when reading out a statement from him.
Terrible incident but I don’t understand all this Channel 9 praise! ABC News channel is and has been doing a good coverage with none of Nine’s sensationalism. Nobody but the police and other authorities know the full story yet. Nine’s reporting of six dead was IMO alarmist for anyone with family still inside the centre. Will watch the news conference at 5:45. Kind thoughts to all in Sydney from Melbourne. My partner was there last Saturday on a weekend in Sydney and we’ll be there again for Vivid. Always go to Westfield Bondi Junction.

10 deficient with a skeleton staff on weekends meaning they are unable to provide comprehensive coverage. Their news gathering resources are very limited in times such as these.

Seven just showed footage of the man running towards fleeing shoppers. He looks like he is wearing a footy jersey and footy shorts and has a knife.
At least the ABC were there not showing horse racing!

I think the criticism of the ABC is down to the delay they took to break into coverage. They had repeats of recorded programming rather than live coverage. They need to be quicker to mobilize.
