Reckon the ABC should do a similar one for Australia.
28-minute Bluey episode global premiere – Australia first!
Set your alarms, tell your friends! The world premiere of The Sign, the hotly anticipated 28-minute special Bluey episode, will air Sunday 14 April at 8am on ABC Kids and ABC iview – before becoming available globally.
ABC Head of Children and Family Libbie Doherty said, “We have set the date! The Sign – the biggest Bluey episode ever – will premiere in April on the ABC, the home of Bluey. Australian audiences will be the first to watch the 28-minute special, uniting with fans around the globe as they wake up to share in this major broadcast event. Joe Brumm and the team at Ludo have exceeded all expectations – we’re sure this episode will delight and surprise, so get ready.”
And that’s not all! Prior to The Sign, fans will be treated to brand-new regular length episode Ghostbasket, premiering on Sunday 7 April, 8am on ABC Kids and ABC iview.
Both episodes are penned by Bluey creator and writer Joe Brumm, directed by Richard Jeffery, and produced by Ludo Studio.
Managing Director, BBC Kids & Family Cecilia Persson, said: “This is going to be an unmissable event for every Bluey fan worldwide and a fantastic springboard into the incredible world of Bluey for those new to the show who’ve yet to experience its pure joy.”
Ludo Studio said “ We’re so excited to share Ghostbasket, a brand-new Bluey episode followed by The Sign which is the equivalent to nearly six Chunky Chimps! The crew have worked so hard on these two new episodes, making them the very best that they can be and we can’t wait to share them with a global audience.”
Celebrities across the globe want to be a part of the Bluey world! The Sign is jammed-packed with voice talent: Patrick Brammall returns as the voice of Uncle Rad, alongside Megan Washington as Calypso, Claudia O’Doherty as Frisky, Myf Warhurst as Trixie, and Rose Byrne as Brandy.
Making their Bluey voice debut, this special episode introduces Rove McManus, Deborah Mailman, Brendan Williams and Joel Edgerton.
Co-commissioned by ABC Children’s and BBC Studios Kids & Family, Bluey is the #1 kids show on Australian broadcast television, and the most watched series ever on ABC iview.
Ghostbasket premieres on Sunday 7 April at 8am, and The Sign premieres on Sunday 14 April 2024 at 8am, both on ABC Kids and ABC iview. In the meantime, stream Bluey series 1-3 anytime on ABC iview.

The series is executive produced by Libbie Doherty, ABC Head of Children and Family, and Henrietta Hurford-Jones, Director of Children’s Content for BBC Studios. Bluey series 3 is a Ludo Studio production for ABC Kids. Principal production investment from BBC Studios, in association with the ABC and Screen Australia. Post Production, Digital and Visual Effects work undertaken in Queensland, Australia with funding from The Queensland Government through Screen Queensland and the Australian Government.
For real life!?!
According to Deadline, after the premiere on ABC Kids, The Sign will roll out globally the same day across Disney+, Disney Junior and Disney Channel in all other available regions (except China and New Zealand).
So they have held back new episodes from season 3. There are 52 eps in season 1 and 2 and only 47 in season 3 so far.
So with two new eps that gets us to 49 eps. I wonder if the extra long episode is in the regular episode count? Otherwise we should have 2 or 3 more missing eps.

Bluey is a loveable, inexhaustible little six year-old Blue Heeler dog, who lives with her Mum, Dad and her five year old little sister. Like every kid her age, the thing Bluey likes to do best is play games. Sometimes she plays on her own, but most of the time she plays with her sister, Bingo.
Bluey takes the everyday events of family life and transforms them into unique gameplay, turning everyday moments into idiosyncratic adventures.
Ghostbasket premieres on Sunday 7 April at 8am, and The Sign premieres on Sunday 14 April 2024 at 8am, both on ABC Kids and ABC iview.

Ghostbasket and The Sign are actually a two-parter.
The two episodes have a common theme: helping kids adjusting to change.
