OFFICIAL TRAILER RELEASED FOR

AMADEUS

STARRING WILL SHARPE AND PAUL BETTANY

COMING TO BINGE 21 DECEMBER

BINGE today released the official trailer for AMADEUS, a five-part limited series based on Peter Shaffer’s award-winning stage play, and boldly adapted by Joe Barton (Black Doves, Giri/Haji, The Lazarus Project). Starring Will Sharpe (Giri/Haji, The White Lotus), Paul Bettany (WandaVision, A Very British Scandal) and Gabrielle Creevy (In My Skin, Black Doves).

This spectacular five-part reimagination explores the meteoric rise and mythic downfall of one of history’s most iconic composers and rockstar virtuoso of the 18th century, Wolfgang ‘Amadeus’ Mozart. Will Sharpe will star as musical prodigy Wolfgang ‘Amadeus’ Mozart, Paul Bettany as envious court composer Antonio Salieri, and Gabrielle Creevy as Constanze Weber, Mozart’s fiercely loyal wife.

When twenty-five-year-old Amadeus arrives in bustling 18th Century Vienna, no longer a child prodigy and craving creative freedom, his world collides with two pivotal figures: his fiercely loyal future wife, Constanze Weber, and devoutly religious court composer, Antonio Salieri. As Amadeus’ brilliance continues to flourish in spite of his personal demons, a questionable reputation and scepticism from the conservative court, Salieri becomes increasingly tormented by this apparent divine gift. Amadeus is a threat to all that he holds dear in life: his talent, his reputation, even his faith in God, Salieri vows to bring him down. What begins as professional rivalry turns into a deeply personal obsession spanning 30 years, culminating in a murder confession and a desperate attempt to entwine himself with Mozart’s legacy forever.

Joining Will Sharpe, Paul Bettany and Gabrielle Creevy in a stellar cast lineup is Rory Kinnear (The Diplomat, Skyfall) as Emperor Joseph, Lucy Cohu (Becoming Jane) as Cecilia Weber, Jonathan Aris (The Sixth Commandment) as Leopold Mozart, Ényì Okoronkwo (Renegade Nell, The Lazarus Project) as Da Ponte, Jessica Alexander (The Little Mermaid) as Katerina, Hugh Sachs (Bridgerton) as Von Strack, Paul Bazely (Such Brave Girls) as Von Swieten, Rupert Vansittart (Game of Thrones) as Rosenberg, Anastasia Martin (In From The Cold) as Aloysia Weber, Nancy Farino (Masters of the Air) as Josepha Weber, Olivia-Mai Barrett (Invasion) as Sophie Weber and Viola Prettejohn (The Crown) as Princess Elizabeth and Jyuddah Jaymes (The Boys in The Boat, Hijack) as Franz Süssmayr.

Produced by Two Cities Television (part of STV Studios) in association with Sky Studios, the series is Executive Produced by John Griffin. Megan Spanjian Executive Produces for Sky Studios, with Michael Jackson (Patrick Melrose) and Stephen Wright (Blue Lights) Executive Producing for Two Cities Television. Julian Farino (Giri/Haji) and Alice Seabright (Chloe, Sex Education) will direct, with Barton, Sharpe, Bettany and Farino also serving as Executive Producers. Seabright additionally serves as Co-Executive Producer. NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution will manage international sales on behalf of Sky Studios.

AMADEUS will drop all five episodes on 21 December on BINGE and will premiere on Showcase at 8.30PM.*

Okay, so now it finally makes sense why they decided to remove the Stack & Save discounts. I just wish they had been upfront about this when they originally dropped Stack & Save—it would’ve saved them a lot of confusion and probably avoided some of the PR mess that followed. A simple announcement or heads-up would’ve gone a long way.

I always felt that having both Binge and Lifestyle as separate services muddied the market. Binge clearly became the flagship, while Lifestyle often came across as the neglected sibling—never quite getting the same attention, promotion, or identity. It really felt like the two could’ve been combined from the start instead of trying to keep Lifestyle afloat as a standalone service without a clear direction.

Flash at $3 a month (with Stack & Save) was genuinely great value. There were multiple times I’d be on the bus commuting to or from work when major news broke, and I’d just open Flash and stream MSNBC or CNN on the spot. For news junkies, it was super convenient. But realistically, the audience for a standalone, news-only streaming service in Australia just wasn’t big enough to sustain it long-term. As much as I personally enjoyed it, I always had a feeling the numbers weren’t there to support it forever.

Notably missing from its news setup….. Fox News.

Seems to have been given the chop. Interesting.

BINGE expands its offering to become the one‑stop service for entertainment, lifestyle and live news

BINGE expands its offering

With expansive line-up of local and international news and lifestyle content now on BINGE, FLASH and LifeStyle to be retired

BINGE is expanding its offering to become a one-stop streaming service for popular entertainment, lifestyle and reality shows, and live news from Australia and around the globe.

From 16 December, NBC News NOW, Sky News Extra and Sky News Weather news channels will be added to BINGE providing even more value to subscribers, adding an additional 25,000+ hours of news content to the platform across the year and bringing the total number of news channels on the platform to 13.

The new news channels join 10 popular live news channels already on BINGE, including Al Jazeera English, Bloomberg News, CNBC, CNN International, FOX SPORTS News, GB News, MS NOW, NHK World Japan, Sky News Australia and Sky News UK.

With the consolidation of popular news channels on BINGE, Foxtel Group will retire its dedicated FLASH news streaming service in February 2026.

In addition, with Australian and international lifestyle and reality shows already on BINGE, including Selling Houses Australia, Love It or List It Australia and The Great Australian Bake Off, the LifeStyle streaming service will also retire in February 2026.

Hilary Perchard, CEO of FOXTEL, Kayo SPORTS and BINGE, said: “These changes make sense for all subscribers. For BINGE subscribers, they receive more value and choice with a larger selection of live news channels. For our FLASH and LifeStyle subscribers, they now have their news and lifestyle together in one place, alongside the world’s best movies, TV shows and documentaries.

“By simplifying our apps, we can also accelerate improvements to the BINGE customer experience by leveraging our parent company, DAZN’s, technology platform and product development capabilities.

“At a time when subscribers want greater simplicity and more value, these are the right changes at the right time,” he said.

As part of Black Friday, new and returning BINGE customers can get any BINGE package for just $2 for one month. The offer will expire on 8 December 2025.

FOXTEL customers who receive a complimentary FLASH subscription can continue watching their favourite news channels on FOXTEL and FOXTEL Go. From 16 December, they will also gain access to NBC News NOW, which joins the FOXTEL and FOXTEL Go line-up. Already on FOXTEL, Al Jazeera English and CGTN News will also join FOXTEL Go on this date.

There are quite a few news channels that will go missing when they give Flash the chop. Like Ticker News, Ausbiz, CGTN, cna, ETNow, France 24, i24 News, Times Now, Newsmax, TRT World and others.

I know some of those are available for free elsewhere, but it seems odd to be dumping all of them, while spruiking how wonderful it’ll be to have more news on Binge.

Or maybe they will just gradually add them over time and the price will go up?

i’d be surprised. none of them look like channels that would move subscriber counts in any meaningful way. I wouldn’t be shocked if they just show up on binge but were not considered worthy enough for mention in the press release.

Is Binge just becoming Foxtel-but-with-a-different-name-and-minmal-sport at this point?

Having resourcing in place for channels that aren’t being used will just be allocated to other channels. And as someone mentioned, those channels being dropped can still be accessed directly.

given the channels are produced externally and streaming i can’t imagine they take up too many resources anyway

How to Make Gravy has been named Best TV Movie at this year’s C21 Drama Awards, on the final day of Content London.

Looks like they will.

BINGE is also set to receive significant enhancements in 2026, building on 9% year-on-year subscriber growth. The platform will undergo a refresh, with the app designed to deliver a slicker interface, improved navigation, and a new TV guide to help viewers find content faster.
