Content

Advertising slogan: “Unturnoffable” (!)

Ad-free.

“Dolby Digital Sound” (wow!!)

“Binge Centres” include behind the scenes docos, cast interviews etc about popular titles

“Surprise Me” button to play something random (is there actually a demand for this???)

“Discover” – “curated carousels” of content. This would be where the “curation” comes in.

Categories include drama, comedy, crime, movies, lifestyle, docos, basically everything you see on Foxtel

“Studio Partners”: HBO, BBC, FX, NBCuniversal, ViacomCBS, Warner Bros, Discovery, Sony Pictures Television, Fremantle Media, WarnerMedia, StudioCanal, ITV, Endemol Shine International, Paramount, A+E Networks, All3 Media, “plus more”.

HBO content looks to all be there (including Comedy Channel stuff like Last Week Tonight and Silicon Valley) – I haven’t been able to think of any that aren’t in the list, anyway. Even “From the Earth to the Moon” is there.

Not everything from Foxtel is on the list of shows and movies for launch. One interesting omission is Foxtel’s own production “Upright” – the acclaimed Tim Minchin show is nowhere to be seen. Weird. This suggests that maybe they’re holding off on some content to drop in later in order to keep “new stuff” coming in.

Plenty of BBC shows, also the US ones from other networks, such as “Devs” or the apparent trainwreck that is Ruby Rose’s “Batwoman”.

Reality shows including the Kardashians and the Real Housewives series.

Docos section which really should be named the Attenborough section.

About 800 movies at launch.

New shows and episodes added day and date with the US, though not applicable to everything – for example, DC’s “Stargirl” is airing in the US already but is not even on Foxtel yet. It is listed as “coming soon” alongside a bunch of other “coming soons” that include: Friends, Big Bang Theory, Gossip Girl, The West Wing, new HBO Max show “The Flight Attendant”, the reboot of “Gossip Girl” nobody asked for, and Ridley Scott’s “Raised by Wolves”, with the assertion “fresh content added daily”. Also not in at launch is kids’ content, which is listed as coming soon from Cbeebies, Cartoon Network etc (care factor zero here but I know some care a lot!)

Adding to that, according to TechRadar:

During the Binge announcement, it was also revealed that users will have access to certain live Foxtel channels within the service, however, the service’s focus will be on boxset-style binge-watching.

And from the same TechRadar story:

Hopefully this will not happen and episodes will be be on Binge at the same time they are on Foxtel and Foxtel Now/Go.

Amazing it’s not behind a paywall…

Here is the list of shows current and coming;

https://www.adelaidenow.com.au/coronavirus/hibernation/what-you-can-watch-on-the-new-binge-streaming-app/news-story/f724d14fd4e916365b9f984803f007d1

I actually really like this idea

The list of content isn’t too bad and the price isn’t bad either. I just don’t understand how they got all that CBS content?

Because CBS realised how bad 10 All Access is here and makes more money with Foxtel?

Also movies on Binge …? So "Minge " (sorry bad joke … )

I read an article online saying
https://whenitsontv.com/binge-foxtel-new-streaming-service-with-hbo/?fbclid=IwAR0p7pJrIxISDLactBIjC80fOsDjKoDAS0EH9luHNAUT8ClR043Ducpfd1U

Binge will also feature Warner classics such as Friends (which will exit Stan) and Big Bang Theory (which will exit Netflix)

Question if anyone knows…

Netflix has up to Season 11 , would this mean the last season 12 which Netflix should be due to get this year I think won’t turn up and I’ll have to pay Foxtel to watch it on Binge?

Better start watching Season 8 onwards (last i watchd of Big Bang) now before it expires…

When it says

NCIS

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation

Blue Bloods

SOA

The Night Of

NCIS: Los Angeles

CSI: Miami

Would you think rights will be tied up , won’t be every season of Ncis bar what’s on 10 All Access or aired on 10 ?

Wow, I’m pleasantly surprised, some of my favourite shows and movies are available. I might just have too try!

The TV Tonight article says Foxtel shows like Wentworth and Selling Houses Australia will not be available on Binge. This suggests that there will be other shows on Foxtel that won’t be available on Binge, and vice versa.

Here is an interview CEO Julian Ogrin if you want to know more about the new service.

Just as I suspected nothing worth that’s outstanding there for me to even give a try. If Foxtel had gotten off their butt in the beginning when streaming started becoming a thing it could have given Netflix a run for its money but in my opinion this is a huge disappointment from my perspective.

I pay $9.95 for standard definition Netflix access per month and that’s enough for me . And of course access to YouTube TV (US)

So if you can’t get all the shows that foxtel
Offer it’s not worth it. It’s not a complete replacement. If you can’t for example get both binge and Kayo and then have everything foxtel offers in a streaming context then it’s not really worth it.

Looks pretty good.
The best thing they can do now is distance themselves from the Foxtel and newscorp brands if they want any hope to get the max audience.

If I was to have a guess, the missing Foxtel shows will probably added to Binge over time. It’s just they perhaps don’t want to put everything up from day dot and have nothing (from a local content perspective) they can add down the track in order to retain existing subscribers.

Can’t binge new content. No 4k. Missing content.
It’s another instant fail.

Netflix execs must be laughing.

Surely this is just a small dot for a global giant like Netflix…

Seems that will be the case according to the summary Nicholas posted earlier (which came from a Whirlpool user who attended the Binge press briefing).

However, seeing Foxtel doesn’t all of their US & UK programs the same day it originally airs - that could be a major drawback for Binge if the same thing happens with the service.

Strange they talk up all the studios worldwide but have zero of their own content and no original commissions

Right now it’s 0% Australian

The lack of Australian drama and slow tracking of titles currently airing in Britain and the U.S. is a deal breaker. There’s no excuse for not fast tracking in 2020.

What do you mean?

I already have Netflix HD, Stan HD, Amazon yearly, Disney yearly with Itunes and Apple Music yearly with Itunes…

This will add up to just over $60 a month.
