The official trailer and key art for the new documentary The Ringleader: The Case of the Bling Ring, directed by Emmy®-nominated filmmaker Erin Lee Carr (I Love You, Now Die: The Commonwealth V. Michelle Carter and At The Heart of Gold: Inside The USA Gymnastics Scandal), has been released today ahead of its 2 October premiere on BINGE.

In a candid, first-time interview with Rachel Lee, the so-called teenage mastermind behind a string of high-profile celebrity robberies in 2008 and 2009, the documentary examines the motivations of Lee and a group of her friends who broke into celebrity homes in Hollywood to ransack and steal, exploring the possible reasons behind her actions including mental health issues and addictions, as well as the climate of celebrity excess that fueled the teens, recontextualizing the events behind the sensational headlines.

In the mid-2000s, dozens of celebrity homes were burglarized and the crime ring behind it all was surprisingly unsophisticated – teenagers from Calabasas. At the centre of the controversy is 19-year-old Rachel Lee. According to her co-defendants, she led the burglaries at the homes of Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom, and Lindsay Lohan. Lee remained silent while the media and her former friends branded her the ringleader of a series of crimes that captured the culture’s fascination.

Over 10 years later and following a prison sentence, Lee speaks for the first time intimately about her childhood and her role in the crime spree and outlines the culture of celebrity worship that prevailed in the early 2000s, when socialites and Hollywood stars flaunted their wealth and designer lifestyles on social media and popular reality shows. Driven by a need to be seen as a cool kid in high school and to emulate the lives of her idols, and using celebrity websites to track her victims’ whereabouts, Lee, along with her friends, targeted such bold-faced names as Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, and Orlando Bloom, breaking into their homes and helping themselves to over three million dollars’ worth of watches, jewellery, designer clothing, and cash. Chronicling the months of burglaries, the drama that transpired in the aftermath of the arrests and prosecutions, and the subsequent casting of blame, The Ringleader: The Case of the Bling Ring sheds light on a culture that led troubled teenagers from a well to do California neighbourhood who nevertheless felt like outsiders, to covet, and believe they deserved, the lifestyles of the rich and famous.

Lee is joined by journalists Allen Salkin and Amy Kaufman, Deputy District Attorneys for L.A. County Christine Kee and Sarika Kim, burglary victim Eden Shizzle and Rachel’s father David Lee.

RETURNS FOR PART TWO OF THE FOURTH AND FINAL SEASON

The epic journey to the series finale of the popular DC series Doom Patrol continues with the six-episode second instalment of Season 4 premiering with two new episodes 12 October on BINGE, followed by one new episode weekly through 9 November.

In the series’ gripping final episodes, the Doom Patrol meet old friends and foes as they race to defeat Immortus and get back their longevities. Just got an email from Binge about yet another price increase, the standard package is increasing from $16 to $18 month.

It already went from $14 to $16 a month in July last year.

The email also mentions 4K streaming on compatible devices coming from late October.

As well it makes mention of news channels streaming from late October too.

It would be nice to have MSNBC and CNN in HD, both of them are stuck in SD, I know there is an HD feed available for MSNBC as Fetch offer it.

I find it strange that they would add CNN International but not Skynews. Do they think Sky news is Better?

With the addition of the news channels, not sure why given the lack of success of Flash, if they wanted to keep all their negotiated deals with the channels on Flash, they could simply offer them in Binge as an add on / use it as an upsell, either as a separate add on pack, or have those news channels available on the Binge Premium package.

Then they could just discontinue the Flash app and not have a more consolidated product offering.

More people are aware of Binge than Flash so they might actually get more uptake if it’s seen as already in app, as opposed to a standalone app.

American Horror Stories , a spin-off of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s award-winning hit anthology series American Horror Story (AHS), returns for its third season with a four-episode Halloween event 27 October on BINGE.

American Horror Stories is an anthology series that will feature a different horror story each episode.

Since 2011, the creators of the AHS have redefined the horror genre with various instalments featuring a creepy asylum, a coven of witches, a travelling freak show, a haunted hotel and the apocalypse itself. The official trailer and key art for the new animated series Scavengers Reign, from creators Joseph Bennett and Charles Huettner, has been released today ahead of its triple-episode premiere 19 October on BINGE, followed by three episodes weekly through 9 November.

In this expansion of the 2016 animated short film Scavengers, the surreal sci-fi animated series follows several groups of survivors as they attempt to navigate a way off this strange planet where the laws of physics as we know them do not apply.

The cast includes Wunmi Mosaku (Azi), Bob Stephenson (Sam), Sunita Mani (Ursula), Ted Travelstead (Kamen) and Alia Shawkat (Levi). Guest stars include Pollyanna McIntosh (Kris), Dash Williams (Barry), Freddy Rodriguez (Terrence), Sepideh Moafi (Mia) and Skyler Gisondo (Charlie).
