I’ll be waiting to see how they do this.i don’t give a crap if it’s live or not, then us one was on,y shown once a week for 45 minutes and seemed to edit the best parts of the weeks in it and they had a live eviction if memory serves me correctly.
I don’t see why seven can’t follow that format. I do want to see it successful on seven.
Personally, I agree with other that I don’t particularly like the sounds of the new Big Brother. I would probably be more inclined to watch Big Brother the way it was done in Season 1-3. However, I am pleasantly surprised 7 are willing to risk and do something differently. I do wish they had just created a new format though rather than use the Big Brother name.
I also agree that Sonia isn’t probably the right host. And that they could go down a different way with this one. Personally I think Chrissie Swan would be a great choice. However, I don’t agree with others who said Sonia wasn’t a good host. I think she did a great job as host. Not as good as Gretel. But I don’t think its really fair to compare the two. Sonia gave it her own spin, didn’t try and copy Gretel and did quite a solid job interviewing the contestants.
However, with all this said I think it is wise to reserve judgement for when seven actually air it.
The US version is shown 3 times a week and even it is not pre recorded months in advance. The only version to be completely pre recorded was the Chinese version and it failed completely and was cancelled after one season.
When someone says that BB needs to be live, I think what they really mean is not that every episode should be live to air, but that they need to be produced with a short turn around in order to cover the house happenings from the day prior. The on-going cry from fans (myself included) for a live component (separate from the primetime tv show) is because it allows the fans to dip in and out of following an organic and spur-of-the-moment timeline that is directly influenced by the BBAU contestants. Fans might change how they feel about a particular contestant (for better or worse) as a result of witnessing (or reading another fan’s comment about) something that was overlooked in an edited TV episode.
The television episodes should strive to tell a story of what happened in the house over one day. Obviously 24 hours cannot possibly fit into a typical timeslot (e.g. 30/60 minutes) without removing scenes. However, whatever footage does make it into the timeslot (e.g. 30/60 minutes) needs to retain a natural progression. If ‘scene A’ happened before ‘scene B’, then scene A should always be first even if swapping them makes for a better headline. Subsitute scene A/B for day 4/17 and this is one of the most concerning possibilities that could occur from a ‘prerecorded’ Big Brother season. As a result of a hypothetical incident on day 17, producers could retrospectively change the day 4 edit. Or worse, they could completely mutilate and mash together these day’s natural timelines in order to come up with an artificial storyline that makes for a better tv promo. This is absolutely not what Big Brother should be about! Yet it is entirely plausible that it could happen as a result of a series being taped in advance.
Scott Tweedie has quit 10. could he be the host? would tick the box of appealing to younger audience.
reports say he is pursuing overseas opportunities, but that can be worked around. off the top of my head; Dan McPherson, Luke Jacobs, Jason Dundas, and Grant Bowler have all juggled Australian and overseas opportunities simultaneously. there are 52 weeks in a year.
Scott could go from being morning tv filler at ten to being caught in a bidding war for high profile primetime jobs at 7, 9 and overseas. Its an obvious choice for him to jump ship, surprised he didn’t do it earlier. 10 are idiots for pushing their grant denyer agenda and not giving their up and comers any opportunity.
I don’t blame him for quitting. He was under valued at 10. Missed opportunity. Instead of going for a different host for The Masked Singer, Dancing with the Stars or even the failed chat show they decided to go for talent that is over used. Even should have been given a go at The Amazing Race.
This is probably not the right thread but I think 10 would be better doing the special on Friday nights. The Living Room doesn’t normally start until later so this would be a good replacement.
I would then put Graham Norton permanently on Saturday’s.
Have they aired it on a Saturday night? Its not like it rates through the roof on Friday or Sunday nights. If it got a similar figure on a Saturday it would be a success and consistently airing it there would help build an audience.
I did a search on this on Media Spy and I could only find mentions of an encore on Saturday nights and about a million comments from @turdall suggesting it should be moved to Saturday nights in various threads.
