Shows like MAFS cast a bit older and it seems to widen the audience reach, with this season the youngest contestant being 28. It would be great to see Big Brother go in that direction
The difference between MAFS and Big Brother is MAFS requires contestants to get ‘Married’ after being unlucky in love. It would be weird for a 20 year old to get married through a relaity show which is seen as their last resort. Comparatively, BB is about people of all ages living together in a social experiement, so while I agree it needs to have a range of ages, you can’t just cut out people in their 20s all together.
I think a great example was the 2008 season with Terry and Nobby having a big generational divide, which immediately gives you tensions and conversations.
Anyways the point I was making, the twist/secret that they were pushing that season was the mother/daughter relationship. That was the premise of that season.
And if you search up Big Brother AU 2006 promo on YouTube, you will find that it was a world first they were touting.
I should have worded it differently. And the first week was about getting to know you. It was an orchestrated situation to bring in viewership and have a story for the first week. And in hindsight a stupid one, because they had representation in previous season.
I feel like farmer Dave though got in on that reason. He made it his personality of oh a farmer could never be gay this will shock the housemates and Australia.
I have a feeling this year though we’re gonna see a lot of familiar faces but of all ages. Producers now go through social media and anyone with a personality and extroverted enough to go on TV are already putting themselves out there and don;t need to audition. There’s a bunch of them on Tik Tok who have different niches that could work well as well as some eye candy.
David was certainly interesting with his interactions with people in the house. His emotional out burst when Perry was giving him some feedback on his behaviour was just so over the top but entertaining.
Incorrect, producers were urging him not to come out like that on National TV because people in his personal life didn’t know about it at that point, and they warned him it may create division and conflict off screen in his personal life.
Yeah I recall an interview with him a year after the show that said they wanted that storyline to be apart of the first weeks challenge. Maybe they didn’t want him to do it the way he did but the fact Gretel was making gay jokes in opening night, the fact the had had previous representation points to your point being wrong. If you go look at his online page he literally went on big brother to change stereotypes around the LGBTQ+ community. Why would they cast him and not want him to be who he is?
Anyway I digress the only thing I have been trying to say is a I enjoyed the UK version more than the the Australian. Not saying I didn’t like the Australian I just think the UK managed to cast castmates with differing opinions, walks of life and different cultures more than the Australian version. Something I enjoyed more.
“Mickey Rourke has agreed to leave the Celebrity Big Brother House this evening following a discussion with Big Brother regarding further use of inappropriate language and instances of unacceptable behaviour,” a spokesperson for CBB said in a statement to Deadline.
Big Brother could work at the tail end of the year. A 16 November start, with a mid December finish is a big possibility. Sure, a 4-5 week run is short compared to the early days. Bit different times. And if successful enough, a slightly longer run next year will happen.
Yeah I highly doubt that the date they showed is exactly correct, more like a random stab based on 10 planning to air it on the tail end of the year.
It wouldn’t surprise me though if 10 are planning a 6-ish week length season (like the UK now do) from early November to mid-December to round out the year.
I will be surprised if it’s 10 weeks. It would be very risky to make it a long season - the Big Brother branding has been thrashed around a lot in Australia and few shows are this long these days (let alone with a live element). Start small like the UK and then make it longer next season if it does well.
