BBC News/World News

I believe (judging by the audio quality) Stumped is recorded in a video-conferencing program.

I think it may vary, as the presenters are often on the road since they are also involved cricketing coverage for their respective broadcasters.

Click was also axed - what would they fill the time with on worldwide feeds without it and Hardtalk?

Could possibly show repeats in the short term.

so sad to see BBC News continually eat itself up

yep and the flow onto the world service - possibly the best news / current affairs station in the world as hardtalk and click were both regular shows on the world service

They changed it literally a couple of weeks ago. Washington comes on air at 10pm UK time, and they go through to 2am which is when Singapore now starts.

Outrageous decision to axe Hardtalk. Such an iconic programme.

More news, I suspect. Expect even more interviews, live crosses and ‘analysis’ (i.e. a reporter stood at a screen ‘explaining’ something).

Totally agree. Iconic and important. And Click was a great little show, too, that will have run for 25 years when it ends next year. Absolute travesty.

We saw how bad the merger of BBC News and World News was 18 months ago. Clearly it wasn’t enough so now they’re making even more cuts. I think that merger was the beginning of the end. I think the whole channel will be gone by the end of this decade.

BBC News is expanding the Your Voice, Your Vote feature from UK election to general news reporting.

As for now on YouTube, the Beebs are continuing the coverage of the 2024 US election aftermath, and they still using the election-themed graphics during their daily news coverage. Let’s hope that this graphics will be permanently adapted by the Beebs themselves

Collating with mocks from @WestKnight at Random Mocks thread in July, it shares various of similarities

To be fair, it was also seen during the UK Election, I just merely recreated it in full size…

IMO- Too much padding space for the single-line headline, and the right hand side was often wasted as a result. I know it’s probably for other inserts, but I think they can be more like BBC Sport and have a shorter card for displaying names and such.

Judging by Chris Cook’s IG Story, we may be seeing more of it in the future:

There’s also this halfway solution - US Election gradients, but in the standard 4:3-safe strap. The bright red straps are still used in parallel, for non-election headlines and names though:

Feral. What more to say?

Why? It’s a giant red maroon box 5 times bigger than it needs to be with absolutely no purpose at all.

Reporting Scotland: News at Seven is to start on BBC Scotland on January 6. Hopefully the name would be as temporary as ‘10 at 10: The Late News’!

Broadcasters Laura Maciver and Amy Irons will present Reporting Scotland: News at Seven, the new-look 30 minute week-night news programme for the BBC Scotland channel, and Martin Geissler will front new current affairs podcast series Scotcast.

Launching on Monday 6 January 2025, Reporting Scotland: News at Seven will come live from Studio C at the BBC’s Pacific Quay headquarters in Glasgow. With a conversational and informal tone, it will bring stories from the BBC’s newsrooms across Scotland, focusing on the people at the heart of communities from Shetland to Selkirk. It will also give audiences more on the big stories of the day through analysis and discussion. The programme will be fronted by one presenter each night, with Laura and Amy sharing out the days across the week.
