Stan, Australia’s unrivalled home of original productions, today announced it has commissioned the brand new Stan Original Series Bad Behaviour .

Based on the acclaimed book of the same name by Australian writer Rebecca Starford , Bad Behaviour is a four-part Stan Original Series offering a visceral and poignant ride into the epicentre of the teenage years – where the most crucial decision of the day is to bully or be bullied.

An emotionally and physically intense glimpse into the lives of teenage girls at the wilderness campus of an exclusive girls boarding school, the series takes us inside a brutal world, exploring latent and emerging sexuality, ritualistic rites, intense friendships, gruelling physical punishments, shifting loyalties and a ruthless struggle for power. Played out across

past and present timelines, the series reveals that even 10 years on from their school years, no one has escaped unscathed – and most are scarred for life.

Led by an all-female creative team, the Stan Original Series Bad Behaviour is written by Pip Karmel (New Gold Mountain, Total Control) and Magda Wozniak (Mustangs, The Heights), produced by Amanda Higgs (The Secret Life of Us, Seven Types of Ambiguity) and directed by Corrie Chen ( New Gold Mountain , Homecoming Queens ). The series will be produced in partnership with Matchbox Pictures , which is part of NBCUniversal International Studios , a division of Universal Studio Group, with major production funding by Screen Australia .

The Stan Original Series Bad Behaviour is produced by Matchbox Pictures with major production investment from Screen Australia in association with Stan. Developed and produced with support from Film Victoria. NBCUniversal Global Distribution will manage international sales.

The Stan Original Series Bad Behaviour will commence production later this year, with further announcements to come.

BAD BEHAVIOUR – CAST ANNOUNCED

Stan has confirmed the cast for the upcoming Stan Original Series Bad Behaviour will be led by Jana McKinnon ( We Children from Bahnhof Zoo ), alongside Markella Kavenagh ( Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power , Stan Original Series The True History of the Kelly Gang ), Yerin Ha ( Halo ), Erana James ( The Wilds ), Tuuli Narkle ( Mystery Road ), Dan Spielman ( Stateless, New Gold Mountain ), Diana Glenn ( Harrow , Reckoning ), Mantshologane Maile ( The PM’s Daughter ), and newcomers Melissa Kahraman, Daya Czepanski, Bronte Locke, Abbey Morgan, Malaynee Hayden and Jessica Lu.

Based on the acclaimed book, Bad Behaviour is an emotionally and physically intense glimpse into the lives of teenage girls at the wilderness campus of an exclusive girls’ boarding school. The series will premiere exclusively on Stan in 2022.

The Stan Original Series Bad Behaviour is written by Pip Karmel and Magda Wozniak , directed by Corrie Chen and produced by Amanda Higgs .

The series is produced by Matchbox Pictures, part of Universal International Studios. Major production investment from Screen Australia in association with Stan. Developed and produced with support from VicScreen. Distribution is handled by NBCUniversal Global Distribution.

They look more like uni students than teenagers going to a high school boarding school.

Bad Behaviour will make its world premiere at the Berlinale (and compete for the Series Award) in February.
