Maybe around NAIDOC Week. The First Peoples Assembly has called for a NAIDOC Week public holiday a couple of years ago. Speaking of the Indigenous Holiday, it should be nationwide and not just Victoria.

I didn’t think Labor were under threat there.
An extra public holiday could be introduced for NSW residents this year, according to Premier Chris Minns.
Minns indicated he wanted to introduce the holiday because Anzac Day falls on a weekend in both 2026 and 2027.
The premier said it would bring NSW up to speed with WA and the ACT, which both shift the date of a public holiday to the following Monday if Anzac Day is on a weekend.
Minns added a decision will only be made with the support of the Returned and Services League (RSL) who he intends to make contact with.
The Sunday Telegraph reports the NSW RSL has endorsed the Minns Government’s two-year trial of an additional public holiday on a Monday after Anzac Day. The government will also conduct a review of the current number of public holidays in NSW, and will seek feedback from the community, business, veteran groups and other stakeholders, while also taking note of the economic and social impacts of the additional public holidays.

The proposal for “Games Day” would be a day off for many workers on the second-last Friday in July, starting in 2027 and continuing beyond 2032.
The Greens says it will provide some relief for residents who have seen house and rent prices increase since preparations began.
The plan has received pushback from opposing parties, with Liberal MP Senator Paul Scarr giving it “the gold medal for silly ideas”.

Just on the Brisbane Games - school holidays may be aligned for the Games too.
During the Sydney Games in 2000, it was during the Spring two weeks break from school (between terms 3 and 4). But Sydneysiders got three weeks school holidays instead of the usual two. Not sure if it was a Sydney thing or it was all of NSW that got the extra week off too.

I’d hope that QLD will see an extended school term for the duration of the Games or a reshuffle of the school year to accommodate the games

All of NSW got the 3 weeks. There were people from outside of Sydney, myself included, coming in for the Games and it would’ve been unfair to give just Sydney kids the extra week.

ACT government backflips to honour Anzac Day public holiday after worker backlash
The ACT government has backflipped on its decision not to honour Anzac Day with a public holiday, after widespread backlash from workers and unions.
Remember NSW: Get all your booze before the public holiday. We know how much everyone gets the shits when the bottle shop is shut. 
Well, there is always driving two and a half hours down the road to Canberra for me to get booze and shopping. I would had kept the 1pm opening time if I was premier.
As long as the servo is open tomorrow morning - I got a trip to Newie tomorrow.
