As long as Harlan makes it I don’t care. He was judges choice this week however so won’t be voted out but I hope he makes it to the end.
The grand final performance show will be filmed on Monday April 13 from after 5pm Sydney time, and go to air at 7.30pm.
Top 6 keep the Australian Idol dream alive
Charlie and Simela eliminated
Tonight, Charlie Moon and Simela Petridis were eliminated after Australia voted to decide the Australian Idol Top 6 on Seven and 7plus.
Ahead of the verdict, the Top 8 gathered on stage for one final time with an electrifying group performance of Golden by HUNTR/X.
Hosts Ricki-Lee and Scott Tweedie then announced that four artists with the lowest votes from each performance show were at risk of elimination.
Kalani Artis, 23, from the Central Coast NSW; singing skier Kesha Oayda, 21, from Jindabyne; singing schoolteacher Simela Petridis, 31, from SA; and big-voiced soul singer Charlie Moon, 31, from WA landed in the bottom four.
Harlan Goode,18, from QLD, was excluded from the public vote after the judges sent him straight to the Top 6 following his spectacular performance of Queen’s Somebody To Love in Sunday’s performance show.
Judges Marcia Hines, Kyle Sandilands and Amy Shark expressed shock at Australia’s verdict.
Marcia was speechless, while Kyle admitted they were all “fantastic” but reflected “it’s the nature of the contest”.
Amy noted: “It’s sad for us. I love watching these guys perform every week, but it’s exciting that they have shown the country what they are capable of. No matter what happens, we know how great they are.”
Amy added: “This is on another level. We have some insane talent.”
The bottom four performed solo one final time, aiming to prove they belonged in the competition.
Kesha put a beautiful, emotive spin on Girls Just Want To Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper, while Simela’s vocals soared on I’m Like a Bird by Nelly Furtado.
Charlie lifted the vibes and had the crowd and judges on their feet with Isn’t She Lovely by Stevie Wonder, while Kalani brought his signature vocals to Breakeven by The Script.
A relieved Kesha was safe from elimination, with Kyle jumping out of his seat to celebrate after confessing earlier, while he wasn’t allowed to have favourites, Kesha was his admitting: “I did say she’s my favourite, so the cat’s out of the bag.”
On progressing to the Top 6, Kesha said: “I don’t have any words that can describe the feeling, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I’m so excited to show you more.”
Kalani’s relief was visible: “I keep getting closer and closer to my goal. I don’t know how I can show the love but thank you.”
After her elimination, an emotional Simela shared: “I’m going to try not to cry. Thank you so much for all the support and the love back home,
She added: “To all the mums out there, don’t stop dreaming.”
Amy said: “You were so fantastic from the second we met you. This is a really hard part of the competition; you are just so talented. You’ve got a whole bright future ahead of you.”
Kyle added: “You won’t be forgotten. You belong on that stage.”
Charlie reflected: “I’m so thankful to be a part of this journey” as he expressed thanks to his fellow contestants, family and friends and everyone behind the scenes.
“This has meant the world to me. I have been dreaming of this since Guy Sebastian won in 2003.”
Kyle praised his final performance, sharing: “I love you, that was magical, you own the energy,” while Marcia admired his “lovely soul” and special voice.
Amy expressed: “From day one with the orange beanie, you were so open about your story. I can’t wait to hear an album of yours.”
Kyle added: “We are going to miss you.”
Former Australian Idol winner Dylan Wright also returned to the stage with an inspiring performance of his new single Those Nights.

Australian Idol
Continues 7.30 Monday and Tuesday on Seven and 7plus

Again, this performance was only promoted on Australian Idol’s social media outlets.
Dylan revealed that Lily-Grace would join him on some of his concert dates in May.
Scott said during tonight’s show that it was being live streamed on TikTok. Due to time difference, fans in QLD, NT and WA would have missed out. If next Tuesday’s results show is to be streamed on TikTok again, then fans need to be given plenty of notice.
At the end of tonight’s show, Ricki-Lee said “see you Sunday night”. She might not have realised of the date change.
Next week’s theme is Heroes and Tributes. 2025 winner Marshall Hamburger will perform on Tuesday’s results show.
Well last night’s votes were a little bit random. I know only 3/7 could be safe but Kalani got way too close to going for my liking. Jacinta being safe blows my mind. I just don’t get it, she is by far the weakest one there.
If 3 are going next week I will predict it will be the girls - Jacinta and Kesha then hard to say which of the boys. I personally find Johnny a bit too one note and repetitive, but he seems almost certain to be there until the very end.
I’m sure that she is aware and it was a simple slip.
Kyle actually said something smart when Ricki-Lee was acting all shocked about someone being in the bottom 4, Kyle said “well there’s only 6 left standing there, so mathematically almost all of them will be the bottom 4”
Yeah it was a bit silly. Should have been bottom 3.
Grand Final is over 2 episodes on Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 April.
Grand Finale, Pt. 1
It’s the Grand Finale and the Top 3 take to the stage for the last time. Expect surprises and guest stars for the biggest show of the series as we prepare to crown the Australian Idol 2026.
Grand Finale, Pt. 2
It’s the Grand Finale results show and after many weeks of blood, sweat and tears your Australian Idol will be revealed tonight. Who will win Australian Idol 2026?
Marshall Hamburger’s guest performance will be on Monday night’s show.
Marcia Hines will perform on Tuesday night’s results show.
Ricki-Lee has talked about it on the radio over the last few weeks.
It was a nice touch to invite a parent of a contestant to perform on stage (Kesha’s father in this case). This is the first time in Australian Idol history it has happened.
There is no judges’ save and three contestants will go home on Tuesday.
Also, John had received the Key to the City by Bunbury mayor Jaysen de San Miguel. John’s mum brought along the key to the performance show.
Kalani’s version of As Long As You Love Me was great, but he actually messed up the second line in his performance and sang the wrong lyrics (though it wasn’t obvious). I wound back to the soundcheck vision and he sang the correct line there, so I don’t think it was intentionally changed.
I’m surprised it wasn’t mentioned by the judges. Maybe they didn’t notice.
I didn’t notice. To me Kalani is the best by a mile. He feels like a true artist. I really hope he wins.
Jacinta and Johnny on the other hand both need to go tonight. I am so over Johnny singing average karaoke of his parents favourite songs every week.
It’s funny how people see and hear different things.
Johnny is pitch pefect with almost everything he has sung. He is most likely going to have a career doing musical theatre.
Kalani struggles with the low notes and some high notes. He has even admitted himself on the show that he doesn’t have the range. Plus he often flubs or forgets the lyrics. He is going to need a lot of training if he is going to have a career in singing.
I hope Harlan wins. He did quite a performance of I’m Still Standing by Elton John.
Two finalists were the right choices for top 3. One who was eliminated should have been top 3.
Harland and Kesha deserved it. I think Johnny was always better than Kalani.
Ricki mentioned voting opens Sunday, I assume it’s Monday after the Monday show and she forgot there is no show on Sunday
