I think season 1 on 7 was just Sunday singing & Monday was LIVE results. Then the following 3 seasons now it’s been Sunday, Monday singing & Tuesday LIVE results

Agree. I couldn’t sit through 12 performances, this weeks “transformation week” shows already felt way too long.
This format has been done in the recent seasons the first couple of weeks. The contestants are split into 2 groups and then in the result show one goes from each group.

Next week on Seven and 7plus, Australian Idol goes live as the Top 12 perform megawatt hits from Hollywood blockbusters.
Idol’s stars are set to shine under the Hollywood lights as they take to the stage for movie week.
They’ll perform iconic songs from mega-movies including The Lion King, Pretty Woman, The Devil Wears Prada, Top Gun, Deadpool and Frozen.
Over three massive nights, the Top 12 leave nothing behind in a bid for Australia’s vote.
Turning up the megawatt star power, Australia’s very first Idol, Guy Sebastian will return to the Idol stage to perform Choir.
Lights, camera, Idol. Who stays is up to you, Australia. The stakes have never been higher.
The winner will receive $100,000 in prize money, an exclusive recording package with Hive Sound Studios, attend a songwriting camp with Sony Music Publishing, marketing and social media support from The Annex, VIP tickets to the ARIAs and TV WEEK Logie Awards and the esteemed title of Australian Idol 2026.

“Australian Idol” has been criticised in the past, after winning artists have failed to find mainstream success after the show. However, this year’s top 12 are now participating in professional workshops with respected industry groups to help their growth and build their brand for life after the show, including The Annex, Sony Music Publishing and Hive Sound Studios.
The top 12 visited all three locations on one day last week.

Ricki-Lee shared some details on recording this week’s shows on the radio this morning with Tim Blackwell.
They recorded both episodes on Saturday and she was at Rooty Hill from 9am to midnight. She’s back there on Tuesday for the live show.

I wonder what happened in the intermission for the theatre audience, when the hosts and the judges went backstage to change clothes for the second episode?
I think it may have been a completely separate audience I am sure there separate bookings on the site.
I think you’re right. The audience would be very restless if they were there for 15 hours.
According to That’s the Ticket website, there is only a single session on Saturday, which lasts for around four hours starting at 6pm, based on the arrival time for standing room audience.
(Note: next weekend’s theme is judges’ choice)
When Ricki-Lee said she was at the theatre from 9am, she would be doing make up and rehearsals before the audience came in.
Today’s radio promo repeatedly referred to it as an “eviction”.

I don’t understand how this elimination worked, the bottom 2 were announced and they both sing again, and then 1 gets eliminated - but there’s no vote for this, it was already determined before they sung again? So what did they sing again for? I’m so confused.

To stetch out the show to 75 minutes 
Them singing again added nothing.
The show could have easily been done within the hour.
