Filming began at around 5.30pm but voting began at 7pm. Obviously some performances had to be pre recorded.
Marcia reportedly collapsed and suffered a medical episode related to her diabetes in the dressing rooms, hence she is not on tonight’s show.

Guy, Sam Fischer, Conrad Sewell, Shannon Noll and Morgan Evans will perform tonight. Conrad, Shannon and Morgan will each sing a duet with a grand finalist.
And yes, Guy is the fill in judge.

Amy needs to win this. She is incredible.
From what I know, he might be the first former Idol to serve as a judge on the show.
Which leads me to ask - have any other Idols around the world gone on to be a judge, whether regular or not, on their shows?
Was that confirmation that it’s coming back again next year?

Given how it’s done this year, up on last year and especially with MAFS never being stronger, they’d be silly not to bring it back.

Last year, Seven announced that Idol would return for this year, in the first or second week from memory.
At the time I thought Seven jumped the gun a bit because the comeback season didn’t rate too well. However, bringing back Marcia Hines and raising the age limit, among other things, have resulted in this season rating much better, though they knew they were never going to topple MAFS.

I think using Shannon Noll as a judge would have been a better option as he has never been a judge on any talent show. I have a feeling Dylan will win both songs were incredible. I was in the audience and the performance with Guy and Sam was pre recorded between 6 and 7 everything else was live apart from a few intros. It was odd seeing just Amy and Kyle walk out as we didn’t know what had happened to Marcia until the show started but the judges were there for the performance.

I kinda expected the guest performance to be pre-recorded similar to how they always did the Monday guest performances.
So it was only Amy & Kyle for that performance which was before 7pm & I assume it was only revealed to everyone what had happened with
Marcia when the show began airing
Nice to see the other nine eliminated contestants in the audience tonight. They were in the standing area to the left of stage, and only shown once on TV.
What was the comment?
Marcia collapsed backstage a few hours before the show and was rushed to hospital. How do you think they were going to get Shannon Noll in to appear at the last minute?
Guy Sebastian was already appearing on the show and has experience as a judge on these types of shows. It made perfect sense.
