There is no way a live performance show with presumably 12 acts will clock in at just 1:30 hr. Probably more like 2:20 hr
And if the actually live results show is not completely pre-recorded earlier in the day I suspect it’ll only be the results portion that is actually live. It’s pretty standard to pre-record guest performances anyway.
“Live Performances”
I can also see both Performance show and results show running overtime too.
For the Top 12, do we know if one goes home per week, or is it multiple?
If Idol is to finish before Easter, I’d say that two contestants will go home each week, with the grand final on April 2 or 3.
According to That’s the Ticket website, registrations for tickets to future live shows open this Friday (February 17) at 10am AEDT.
I’d expect an overrun as well. Just look at how even The Front Bar live program runs late every episode.
Grand finale is earlier than those dates you mentioned.
I found last night’s episode one of the most boring of the season. It just seemed to be a bit disjointed and be a bit repetitive. I thought there was a lot more content in the Monday episode missed that could have been shown last night. I also don’t like when the judges give those trick comments to people going through like they are going - those are very producer fed scenarios.
I guess next week is when we get proper full performances.
I suspect it will follow the American Idol format, which is a much shorter live show period than we are used too with Aus Idol in the past. I would expect a couple to go each week (at least in the early phases of the top 12) or even for there to be split performances/eliminations across the Sunday and Monday’s.
According to this the finale should be Sunday 26th March
Only started watching this week.I agree the audition episodes could have been cut back.it’s okay so far ,not great.I’m missing the old ‘Idol’ I guess. That was a different era ,back in 2003 ,there was no social media presence then like today .
Great to see Marcia as a guest judge, she was always the nice judge in the original Idol.Harry is a great judge and he’s always honest.
They should’ve asked former contestants to be judges like Jessica Mauboy ,or Shannon Noll.
that makes sense, 2 people leave every result show and there would 4 in the Finale
10 remaining 27th Feb, 8 remaining 6th Mar, 6 remaining 13th Mar & 4 remaining 20 Mar
That’s the final date of shows coming from there. Finale could be Monday 27th at the Opera House?
Possibly, either way its one of those 2 days.
It is definitely one of those two dates as contestants are released on Tuesday 28.
How does the top 24 round work? Let’s say that 24 contestants were divided into three groups of eight, with each group performing on one night. Would half of the contestants from that group be sent home at the end of each night? Or would the judges leave until the end of the final group performance to reveal which lucky 12 would advance to the next round?
I guess we will know when it airs.
I can answer this if you like or just wait til next week? Up to you.
I will ask you if Seven does not post a press release in the next couple of days.
I’m sure that’s what they did on the original Idol,
Ive been watching, but this whole show is just, well, flat.
I think that of the top 24 we currently have, there may be 2-3 contestants with star potential and that is a stretch. Maybe Australia just does not have the population to support multiple singing shows…
An Idol favourite returns as the Top 12 are decided
Australia’s Top 12 will be decided during an unmissable week of Australian Idol on Channel 7 and 7plus as an iconic Idol competition moment makes a welcome return.
The legendary “touchdown” returns to the Idol stage for the first time in over a decade. Epic performances earning a touchdown from a judge will immediately place the performer in the Top 12.
The best performers will sing for their lives in front of the biggest live audience Idol has ever seen as the competition inches closer to Australia choosing their next Idol.
“This is when the competition really starts,” says judge Harry Connick Jr. Fellow judge Kyle Sandilands has labelled the upcoming performances “sensational”.
The Top 12 will feature in the live performance round of the competition, with Australian audiences voting each week to decide who will be crowned the next Australian Idol. The winner will receive a recording contract with industry giant Sony Music and $100,000 in prize money.
Australian Idol is hosted by multi-platinum selling, ARIA Award-nominated singer-songwriter Ricki-Lee – discovered on Australian Idol in 2004 – and internationally renowned entertainment presenter and former E! host Scott Tweedie.
