Embark on a wild odyssey across Australia this January with ABC
From Tuesday 24 January 8.30pm
Screening from Tuesday 24 January, 8.30pm on ABC TV and ABC iview, the epic three-part adventure series Australia’s Wild Odyssey invites viewers to follow the flow of water across the Australian continent to uncover the incredible connections that link all creatures on earth, from ants to eagles to us.
Narrated by Deborah Mailman, Australia’s Wild Odyssey reveals in stunning cinematic detail the surprising connections that allow life on earth to thrive. The visually breathtaking series sets out on three continental journeys through some of Australia’s wildest landscapes in search of answers to the most fundamental questions: What makes life possible, and how does it all work?
Alongside naturalists, scientists and First Nations custodians, Australia’s Wild Odyssey presents modern science alongside millennia-old knowledge to explore the fundamentals of ecology in a poetic journey that reveals the interconnectedness of every living thing on earth.
Richard Huddleston, ABC Acting Head of Factual and Culture said: “We are delighted to have the incredibly talented team from Wild Pacific Media making a follow up series to Australia’s Ocean Odyssey. This time we follow the flow of water across the Australian landscape, and the jaw-dropping cinematography reveals epic landscapes juxtaposed with exquisite detail that help remind us of the inter-connectedness of all species on our precious planet. We are confident audiences will again be dazzled and inspired by this stunning series.”
Nick Robinson, Director, Writer and Cinematographer said: “In an age where the loss of biodiversity is one of our greatest challenges, we hope this series opens the door for people to see the beauty and intimate relationships that link all living things, and give people the tools to understand and appreciate the natural world around them”.
