The highest award in the Australian Honours is a VC, then the CV. The AC is next.

The number of media people with honours seems to be down this year. Actors Lorrae Desmond and Val Lehman probably the most recognisable names. Kerry OāBrien would have been a nice addition to the list.
Graham Ross is also a recognisable name as he is the gardening expert on Better Homes and Gardens.
Formerly known as Maureen Plavsic, the first female in charge of an Australian television network as CEO of the Seven Network in the early 2000s. She passed away in December.
The AC is the highest award for the Order of Australia, the VC is the highest military award and the CV is the highest bravery award. However, if youāre lucky enough to receive the VC, that is worn first, followed by the. CV then the AC.
Court canāt receive a VC and unlikely to receive a CV given how rarely theyāre handed out.
Just reading Michael Bodeys book and she popped up today.
ā¦ poor olā red Kezza ā¦ so good in his prime, now just a sad, tired old ex-journalist who canāt resist the limelight one last time ā¦ he was so good at keeping his opinions to himself as a professional journalist should, but now he canāt be bothered ā¦ what an ignominious end to a stellar career ā¦
One could say the same about Mrs Court. What a sad twilight her life has become.
Perhaps you could take your own advice.
With due respect, this is a discussion forum, and he (my presumption) has made some quality posts in the forum.
She also came up in some old articles I was reading a few months back, talking about Sevenās then decline and struggles (ignoring Sydney 2000).
Sheās often forgotten about, as it was right before Davie Leckie went to take charge of Seven in very successful fashion and the rest is history.
During her tenure, at one stage, Blue Heelers and All Saints were a couple of the only top performing shows, even Heelers had gone down a bit after Lisa McCuneās famous departure. Nine were dominating everything, including news and current affairs, which by 2002-2003 starting with Sunrise things in that department started to turn.
ā¦ oh thatās so funny ā¦ Iām not sure a post on MediaSpy is in the same league as a self-aggrandising release to the nationās major media ā¦ nor would I consider myself in the same class as Kezza as far as a āstellar careerā is concerned ā¦ but thanks for the vote of confidence anyway
We only see what we want to see.
ā¦ is that your personal life philosophy? ā¦ you know you stole it from Miguel Ruiz ā¦
āWe only see what we want to see, and hear what we want to hear. We donāt perceive things the way they are. We have the habit of dreaming with no basis in reality. We literally dream things up in our imaginations. Because we donāt understand something, we make an assumption about the meaning, and when the truth comes out, the bubble of our dream pops and we find out it was not what we thought it was at all.ā
ā Miguel Ruiz, The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom
Any journalist should keep their personal views out of their reporting, but now heās retired I donāt see why Kerry OāBrien canāt express his views. OāBrien deserves respect; heās earned it (unlike some others who have been nominated for honours).
There is no way Court has in the recent past, since receiving the 2nd highest (civilian) honour in 2007, done enough to justifiably earn the highest honour now.
Sheās well and truly a has-been (who keeps wanting to push her prejudices onto other people).
What existing honour(s) did OāBrien already have?
Kerry OāBrien declined to receive an AO. It would have been his first Australian honour.
Kerry OāBrien would have been one of the most deserving of recent media persons honoured on Australia Day. Seven Walkleys including Gold.
