Thank you @TBoy the schedule is really good! I was thinking that it should be kids shows (like Paw Patrol and Blaze) in the morning and in the afternoon older shows like ICarly and The Loud House

Just spotted some spelling mistakes in some of your graphics, @Kathryn_Milin. It’s “Auckland”.

SPECIALTY CHANNEL

For your guide, a specialty channel can be a commercial broadcasting or non-commercial television channel which consists of television programming focused on a single genre, subject or targeted television market at a specific demographic. Specialty channels are different from full-service or general entertainment channels.

According to Wikipedia, the number of specialty channels has greatly increased during the 1990s and 2000s while the previously common model of countries having just a few (national) TV stations addressing all interest groups and demographics became increasingly outmoded, as it already had been for some time in several countries. About 65% of today’s satellite channels are specialty channels.

In my opinion, a few types of specialty services may include, but by no means are limited to:

  • Children’s channels
  • Documentary/factual channels
  • Men’s interest channels (e.g. general entertainment aimed at males)
  • Movie channels
  • Music channels
  • News channels
  • Shopping channels
  • Sports channels
  • Women’s interest channels (e.g. general entertainment aimed at females)

MOVIE CHANNELS

In New Zealand, there are five classifications for free-to-air TV, pay TV and on-demand services:

G - Approved for general viewing
PG - Parental guidance recommended for younger viewers
M - Suitable for mature audiences 16 years and over
16 - People under 16 years should not view
18 - People under 18 years should not view

If a movie channel idea is chosen, films are classified for age suitability and parental control is required for viewers who want to stop children seeing unsuitable material.

On free-to-air television, all films screening on a ‘free movie channel’ for Freeview must include commercial breaks as it is fully funded by advertising - just like Film4 in the UK (in real life). In addition, films may be edited to run in the time allotted. An increasingly common practice for length-edited films shown on a ‘free movie channel’ is for the film’s end credits to sometimes be sped up to the next film, or to free up more airtime for commercial advertising.

Films with the M classification can be broadcast on a ‘free movie channel’ between 9am and 3pm only on school days as designated by the Ministry of Education, as well as between 7.30pm and 5am the following morning. Films classified 16 can only be broadcast after the 8.30pm watershed, while films classified 18 can only be broadcast after 9.30pm, but explicit adult sex films are NOT to be broadcast on free-to-air television and all films with the 18 classification are edited for content. Films classified G and PG can be broadcast at any time.

On pay television, all movie channels are intended as premium channels and films on those channels are ‘uncut and uninterrupted’, i.e. no commercial breaks or intermissions. However, there are commercial breaks between each film. If content filtering is not available, all classified 18 can only be broadcast between 8pm and 6am the next morning, and between 9am-3pm on school days. If content filtering is available, films classified 18 can be broadcast at any time.

The following descriptor codes (also known as audience advisories) may be added for films classified PG or higher:

  • C - Content may offend
  • L - Language may offend
  • V - Contains violence
  • S - Sexual content may offend

ATV1 is a full-service channel with a mix of news, sport and general entertainment to cater for a broader audience, although it’s not necessarily a combined news and sport channel.

Don’t mean to sound rude Paddy, but as it is @Kathryn_Milin’s dream Network, the decisions are ultimately up to them. Although I can understand providing general feedback.

Thank you for your concern, @Biscuit45. It won’t happen again.
