ARN Regional (formerly Grant Broadcasters)

That’s because Wave FM airs Kate, Tim & Joel at 5-7pm weekdays (also from Nova, but a different version airs for regional stations compared to the one heard on Nova), in which there’s more talk & less music.

Power FM Ballarat doesn’t air the program, so therefore tends to play more music during that hour than Wave.

Power FM Murray Bridge has been skewing older for quite awhile now (I think even when they had their own log), but Power FM and K-Rock should be skewing younger IMO, to be different from the metro stations that boom into both markets

Not live, but same content. Nova provide the segments as a stand alone product for stations to use with their own playlist and timings.

So Simon Dawson not scheduling music for Hot Tomato?

Bay 93.9 & K Rock in Geelong have extended their local drive shows to 7pm on weeknights.

It’s interesting that Grant’s stations on the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast & Geelong have their local drive shows on until 7pm, whereas Wave FM in Wollongong, who competes with i98, has networked drive from 5pm, leaving the competition to have a local drive program to itself.

Great decision. Both stations make a point of being local which is a great thing especially as the main source of free news here and as other stations reduce local content

They have no other choice as they compete with the Melbourne stations.

It will happen as this is where Grant are reallocating resources internally. @Deano is not going to let their NSW key market and his home market lag behind.

He will geographically be close to his ex co-presenter Damien Leith, who is now doing breakfast on Wave FM just up the road in Wollongong.

I remember Stolzy from when he first started off on C91.3 way back in 2003-04 before he departed for 2NM/Power FM in the Hunter Valley many years later.

Does this mean 2ST is returning to two separate breakfast shows? Or is Stolzy replacing Graeme across all frequencies?

Looking at their Song History pages, 94.9 Power FM is back to running the same log as Wave FM as of today, at least for the weekend (a long weekend in NSW, as well as in QLD & SA). Therefore, 7HO in Hobart is now running the same log as all its other Hot AC stations.

They did the same last weekend too, it looks like one Hot AC playlist for all the AC stations on the weekend, and then Power will go back to the 7HO playlist on workdays.

I believe Graeme Day will still do Southern Highlands Breakfast from the way I read it.

Looking at Lava for last weekend, 7HO was running the same log as Wave FM, so I would agree with you that I think it’s a weekend thing, with 7HO/94.9 Power FM running its own log on weekdays.

That means on weekends, in the context of within Tassie, 7HO runs the same log as heard on Chilli & Sea FM Devonport/Burnie, with LAFM/7SD/7XS on the AC log & 7AD/7BU on the “Classic Hits” log.

That’s correct. Had 2ST on in the car while travelling over the last few days and heard the announcer promote dedicated breakfast shows for the southern highlands and Shoalhaven.

But didn’t they make that role redundant? And now reinstating it again?

As predicted, 7HO & 94.9 Power FM are back on its own log today (it’s not a public holiday in Tassie unlike in NSW), which proves that them running the same log as Wave FM is only a weekend thing.

Interestingly, according to their Song History page, 94.9 Power FM played “Heart of Glass” by Blondie this morning. This is an interesting situation where Power FM are more likely to play an occasional 70s song, however rare, than Wave FM these days.

I’ve always liked the previous 94.9 PowerFM playlist. It was a good variety of music whilst skewing younger.

A perfect mix of hit music for holiday makers heading to the south coast.

I preferred the previous playlist too, Power Fm then sounded different from Wave and i98, now it sounds to close to Wave fm.

I guess with Hit regionals skewing older Grant decided to flick Krock and Power fm over to a Hot AC playlist, but this does not always work as we have seen with Nova.

It’s a disaster. In Ballarat, there was clear brand difference between Power & 3BA.
You’d NEVER hear an 80’s song on Power for example.

Now it’s like they have an identity crisis, Eurythmics & Pseudo Echo on a CHR while 3BA are playing Nickelback & Linkin Park for god sake.

All over the place

I think a simple solution would be for 3BA, as well as Bay 93.9, LAFM & Mix 104.9, to switch over to the “Greatest Hits” log, which its playlist doesn’t have a big musical crossover with its CHR/Hot AC stations.

Gold Central Victoria (1071AM; 98.3FM in Bendigo City) is one of those stations that carry the format.
