ARN Regional (formerly Grant Broadcasters)

I find the metro Gold playlist unbearably narrow and safe.

Absolutely. Every time I sample it it’s an endless ad block or J&A prattling on.

So River94.9 doesn’t take J&A, COC, Will & Woody and not even Smallzy.

I’d love to know the real reason why. Maybe they’re extremely profitable being local and don’t want to damage the revenue?

I believe it’s because of a huge overlap with Brisbane, where those programs are already heard on KIIS 973 & Gold DAB.

Meanwhile, another program will be coming to ARN Regional Hot AC stations from Monday 18th May:

With plenty of industry runs on the board between them, KIIS 973 daytime announcer Georgie Marckwald and audio producer Tom Murray have long dreamt of hosting their own radio show.

Now, they’ve taken a significant step towards that goal, with the podcast they host – Chat G&T – having signed with ARN’s iHeart.

From this Monday (May 18th) the show will be aired on a host of ARN regional radio stations, from Bega to Bundaberg.

It will air at 7-8pm Mondays.

I’m guessing it’s kind of justifying messing with 97.3 & DAB+ when they have another station doing gangbusters in Brisbane that’s untouchable

That was the rationale for ARN keeping River and Hot 91. More profitable than 4KQ.

Launceston ARN stations to move into brand new digs

The building that houses Launceston‘s two ARN stations, Chilli 90.1FM and LAFM 89.3 was sold last month, with part of the sale a one year leaseback agreement with the network.

Instead of renting elsewhere, ARN are to build brand new studios in Invermay, across five titles and including three studios, announcer and sales offices and a ten metre antenna pole
