ARN Regional (formerly Grant Broadcasters)

I would add the Darwin stations and the Canberra joint venture to that as well. At least with those included, you could have a truly national networks.

Tas-ites - has ARN killed off 7HO River?

Getting nothing but dead air on their iHeart stream currently, and there’s no song info in Lava since the 2nd of April.

You’re right, the direct stream URL is silent (apart from a goddamn pre-roll ad).

It’s possible that ARN haven’t noticed that the station has accidentally fallen off, à la SRN and their Sydney DAB+ stations. If it was deliberate, the station listing would’ve been removed from iHeart?

Its Hobartian, or Taswegian thanks…..Tasites sounds like something you get from the fish and chip shop with a Chiko roll.

7HO River is dead air, IHeart Country is very low level, 7HO and 7HO Classic hits normal. Forgot about CADA…

Current DAB in Hobart is:

The full suite of ABC and SBS Services.

From ARN:

7HO River, 7HO Classic Hits, 7HO, CADA, and IHeart Country.

Community Services:

7RPH, Ultra 106.5, Hobart FM and Edge Radio.

SCA:

Festival Bangers, Fit Hits, Girl Power, Goodvibes, Guilty Pleasures, Heart 60’s, Hit100.9, Homegrown, MMM 70’s, Noughties, Party, Roadtrip, Stress free, Top 30, Tradie radio, Trending Now, Triple M Hobart, and Yacht Rock.

Some of those SCA stations just sound abysmal….

Wow. DAB+ in Tasmania sounds so much better as opposed to the 3x major network variations of dance, 80s and classic hits we get around the rest of the country.

Hobart’s the DAB dumping ground to reduce the fees radio stations pay to APRA…

There are no specialty Dance stations in Hobart. Sydney and Melbourne have 3 each. Not sure why you think they are so terrible? In regards to 80s, they are very popular and along with the 90s, are 2 of the most popular decades for music.

For a regional city, it is a good line up though. Surprised that SCA have 18 stations, at 32kbps each, that would be 576kbs assuming all are EEP-3A.

ARN is a bit light though, compared to their offering on the Gold Coast.

94.9 Power FM having a few issues this afternoon, the traffic report for 4PM was missed (intro still played), minutes later a voice track from the hour before played which was followed by two full commercial breaks and then the news at 4:50pm.

More commercial breaks airing now at 4:56pm. Last song was heard around 4:45pm…

EDIT: Still going at 5:06… Another repeat VT airing following another commercial break…

5:07pm: News playing again with commercials overlapping,

Note that Power & 2ST hasn’t had any Now Playing data for this hour (according to Lava)

Surprised they do traffic reports in that market?

Graham McGillivray has been appointed as the new General Manager of 2ST & 94.9 Power FM in Nowra.

A shame because now ex-SRN Group GM Gavin Flanagan could’ve applied for his previous job in that time.
