My thoughts of Channel Nine’s coverage:

I thought that Tim Blackwell did a good job overall on the hosting duties.

I liked Missy Higgins and her acceptance speech for the Hall of Fame. And her peforming at the end with a medley of her songs with other musicians was great.

About half the awards were shown, with the others shown throughout the telecast as “ealier ij the night”.

A pretty good telecast

The performances from this evening’s awards ceremony are now available for catch-up on ARIA’s YouTube channel.

At least they picked the right ones to show in full this year.

I agree 100%. I am happy that they showed “the main awards” in full. And the editing was better this year than previous years too.

The 2025 ARIA Awards return 19 November

Australia’s biggest night in music is returning to 10 and streaming live on Paramount+

The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) today announced the 2025 ARIA Awards in partnership with Spotify will return to Australia’s creative industries capital, Sydney, on Wednesday, 19 November.

Held for the fourth year running at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion, on Gadigal land, the 39th ARIA Awards will celebrate the very best of Australian music on its biggest global stage to date with a new presenting partner and network home.

In an exciting new chapter, the 2025 ARIA Awards will return to 10 and stream live on Paramount+, delivering a powerful celebration of Australian music to audiences across free-to-air and streaming platforms.

With millions of global listeners, custom in-app programming and integrated marketing campaigns, the ARIA Awards will be supercharged thanks to the support of Spotify, delivering maximum local and international visibility for nominees and winners alike. This partnership will transform award momentum into real opportunities for audience growth and music export, with curated playlists, editorial features, and high-impact media ensuring Australian music resonates globally.

In 2024, the ARIA Awards saw incredible homegrown talent claim Australian music’s most sought-after accolades: Sydney duo Royel Otis took home four awards, while international pop star Troye Sivan scooped up three pointy trophies, including Album of the Year, Best Solo Artist and Best Pop Release. Supergroup 3% claimed their first two ARIA Awards for Best Hip Hop / Rap Release and Best Cover Art (Daniel Boyd and Nomad Create) and the iconic Missy Higgins won Best Australian Live Act presented By DNSW and was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.

ARIA CEO, Annabelle Herd, said: “With so many of our local artists dominating on huge global stages in the past year, we have lots to celebrate – and this year we are taking the ARIA Awards to a whole new level. Spotify’s considerable backing with its powerful platform and proven ability to amplify music worldwide, as well as a new home with Paramount Australia, will be a gamechanger for the ARIAs and all of this year’s nominated artists.”

NSW Minister for Jobs and Tourism, Steve Kamper, said: “I’m delighted to see the ARIA Awards returning to the Hordern Pavilion. Sydney is the nation’s capital for creative industries, so it’s an honour to have one of our most iconic live music venues as the home of the highest accolade in Australian music. The Minns Labor Government has changed the rules around operating hours after dark to bring live music back across NSW and provide a platform for artists, while also supporting venues and businesses that rely on our state’s visitor and night-time economy. I thank ARIA for their advocacy for the music industry and for sharing our values for a thriving live music scene in NSW.”

Daniel Monaghan, SVP Content and Programming, Paramount Australia, said: “The ARIA Awards are an electrifying celebration of Australia’s bold, vibrant and creative music industry, and we can’t wait to share this iconic event loudly across multiple platforms. Showcasing the country’s rich and diverse homegrown talent, viewers won’t miss a minute of Australian music’s night of nights, with the ARIA Awards broadcast on 10, with live streaming on Paramount+.”

Playbill Venues CEO, Michael Nebenzah, said “Playbill Venues is thrilled to once again be hosting the ARIA Awards in the wonderful Hordern Pavilion. There is a perfect synergy holding this iconic music industry event at the Hordern – a venue loved by Australian performers and fans alike. The ARIA Awards is a highlight in the Hordern’s annual calendar.”

The 39th ARIA Awards is proudly supported by Destination NSW, celebrating Australia’s vibrant music industry and showcasing Sydney as a global hub for world-class entertainment and culture.

The ARIA Awards Presents program will return in 2025,providing opportunities for aspiring artists and industry professionals to celebrate Australia’s best established and up-and-coming talent, and facilitating important conversations to shape the future of Australian music. The line up of events for 2025 ARIA Awards Presents will be released at a later date.

The 2025 ARIA Awards nominations will be announced on Thursday, 25 September.

Good to see 10 with it for 2025.
Does Roving still produce it - wonder if that had any effect on why it’s on 10

Good to see it back to 10. Impressed that it will be streaming live on Paramount+ too.

Nine did have a good run with it too.

As the press release states, this year’s awards will have a new major sponsor in Spotify, replacing YouTube. I do hope that highlights will still be available on YouTube for overseas fans.

UPDATE 19/8: the ARIA announced in June that Spotify would be presenting partner of the annual awards from 2025 to 2027.

You Am I inducted into ARIA Hall Of Fame

The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) is thrilled to reveal that legendary Aussie rock band You Am I will be inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame during the 2025 ARIA Awards in partnership with Spotify on Wednesday, 19 November 2025.

The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) is thrilled to reveal that legendary Aussie rock band You Am I will be inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame during the 2025 ARIA Awards in partnership with Spotify on Wednesday, 19 November 2025.

The esteemed accolade will be awarded to the ten-time ARIA Award winners at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion, on Gadigal land, celebrating their outstanding contribution to Australian music over the past three decades.

Formed in Sydney in the late '80s, fronted by the inimitable Tim Rogers joined by band members Andy Kent, Davey Lane and Russell Hopkinson, You Am I emerged in the early 1990s with a sound that reshaped the landscape of Australian rock. With their blend of garage grit, power pop hooks, and distinctly local storytelling, the band became one of the most influential and critically acclaimed acts of their generation.

You Am I’s landmark albums – Hi Fi Way, Hourly, Daily, and #4 Record – not only topped the ARIA Charts but cemented the band’s legacy as trailblazers of Australia’s alternative music scene. Their emotionally raw, lyrically rich songs reflected suburban Australia with both wit and vulnerability, capturing the spirit of a nation through a fuzz pedal and a four-chord truth.

Since its February 1995 release, Hi Fi Way has remained a fan-favourite album, with a significant influence on the Australian music landscape, and has cemented Tim Rogers’ reputation as one of Australia’s great storytellers. 30 years on, Hi Fi Way remains as compelling as ever. This year, You Am I announced their 30th anniversary tour, which has so far garnered glowing reviews, with fans relishing in the opportunity to hear Hi Fi Way live in its entirety.

Hi Fi Way marks a pivotal moment in the trajectory of You Am I. Produced by Lee Ranaldo, who also co-produced the band’s debut album Sound As Ever, Hi Fi Way is the first of their 3 consecutive albums to debut at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, a feat not achieved by any Australian band prior.

Follow up Hourly, Daily garnered 9 ARIA Award nominations and went on to secure the band six trophies, including the prestigious Album of the Year award. You Am I’s #4 Record includes the iconic single Heavy Heart, a shining example of the mastery of Tim Rogers’ songwriting.

Over their career, You Am I have released 11 studio albums, won 10 ARIA Awards, and inspired a generation of Australian acts from Jet and Grinspoon to Silverchair to Tame Impala. Their explosive live performances are the stuff of legend, with support slots alongside Nirvana, The Rolling Stones, Oasis, and The Who, and a loyal fanbase that has grown with them across three decades. Across the past three decades, all these releases have generated an extraordinary 31 ARIA Award nominations**.**

ARIA CEO, Annabelle Herd, said: “Australia has witnessed You Am I shape the course of modern rock music with their unmistakable sound, honed by live shows across the length and breadth of the country and beyond. With 10 ARIA Awards, multiple chart-topping albums, and a legacy that has inspired countless musicians, You Am I is one of the finest live acts this country has produced, fuelled in equal parts by the explosive musical chemistry between the band and Tim Rogers’ era-defining songwriting.

“It’s the songs that have really sealed the deal on making You Am I a band for the ages. Tim Rogers’ ability to nail a universal feeling with a couple of seemingly throwaway lines, through that uniquely Australian lens, is one of the reasons that You Am I’s music – including ARIA #1s Hi Fi Way, Hourly Daily and #4 Record, are held so close to fans’ hearts. We are thrilled to be welcoming one of Australia’s most influential and enduring bands into the ARIA Hall of Fame.”

On behalf of the band, frontman Tim Rogers said: “We are bemused, flattered and surprised to be asked to sit at the parents table. The artists in the Hall have had musical adventures of grandeur and righteous acclaim. Our trail of desperation seems more haphazard and with less dazzle. Yet we are giddy and grateful to feel recognition from the music community. We’ll see you out there on the road of endless possibilities.”

You Am I’s induction into the ARIA Hall Of Fame will take place during the 2025 ARIA Awards, where they will join the ranks of Australia’s most revered musical legends and artists. The ARIA Awards will return to 10 and live stream on Paramount+.

Next year in 2026, the ARIA Awards will celebrate its 40th anniversary, where the ARIA Awards Hall Of Fame will get a standalone event where they will induct more heroes and legends from Australian music.

The 2025 ARIA Awards nominations will be announced on Thursday, 25 September.

ARIA Awards is supported proudly by the NSW Government through its tourism and events agency, Destination NSW.

The nominations for the 2025 ARIA Awards, including Best Use of an Australian Recording in an Advertisement award, were announced this morning.
