Starting with the first billing date in January 2018, the Prime Video membership automatically renews at 5.99 per month.

Customers that sign up for a Prime Video monthly subscription after July 1, 2017, receive a limited time introductory price of 2.99 per month for the first six months of the membership. The Prime Video membership automatically renews at 5.99 per month starting in the seventh month of the Prime Video subscription.

Amazon initially renewed Z: The Beginning of Everything, starring Christina Ricci, for a second season, but has now changed its mind and axed it.

Hong Kong director Wong Kar-Wai (In the Mood for Love, Chungking Express) will direct a new series for Amazon called Tong Wars. Written and produced by Paul Attanasio, it will be set in the 19th century San Francisco and is about the battle between Chinese immigrants to America and local gangs.

Amazon Prime and 20th Century Fox has signed a new content licensing agreement to bring This Is Us and the TV adaptation of The Exorcist to Amazon Prime customers across more than 200 countries and territories around the world, including Australia. Both shows will be available to Amazon Prime subscribers after the season finale has been shown on local TV. Amazon will also have exclusive streaming rights to both series in select countries.

So Ten loses the rights?

No, Ten still has the rights to This is Us. The whole second season will air on Ten first before it is available on Amazon.

Does anyone network have the rights to The Exorcist?

The first season was shown on Foxtel.

So looks like 2 shows and we won’t even get them fast tracked.

The first season of The Grand Tour will have its FTA premiere on Seven in October, according to a promo shown during today’s AFL Grand Final coverage. Interestingly, the promo points to viewers that the second season is coming soon to Amazon.

Excellent news for my insomnia - I’m guaranteed to fall asleep if I watch this.

Amazon is now available for Apple TV 4K and previous generations of Apple TV in Australia. It costs US$2.99 a month for the remainder of 2017 and US$5.99 in 2018, and also comes with a free trial.

Took it for a spin last night. Not bad selection, fast and good image quality. Certainly worth the introduction price.

New British crime drama McMafia launches today on Amazon. Starring James Corden, it is loosely based on the 2008 book by journalist Misha Glenny. The BBC-AMC co-production launched in UK on New Year’s Day but Amazon has international rights outside the UK and the US. One episode will be available each week hours after the BBC broadcast.

Bosch has been renewed for a 5th season ahead of its 4th season premiere. Eric Overmyer, who was showrunner for the first three season before leaving for The Man in the High Castle for one season, will return as co-showrunner alongside executive producer Daniel Pyne, who succeeded him for season 4.
