Who cares, I’d do it. And I’m an idiot.
An idiot can dream, can’t they?

No, you’re not an idiot, maybe just a bit crazy!?
Yep 4WK is still in C-QUAM on 963
Yeah it was the station Manager Paul Batchelor and myself who at the time was the tech who enjoyed the moment it went into stereo for the simple fact the transmitter was capable of it and we both owned stereo receivers so why not have it go up the stick in stereo for those that could receive it
Was 4WK one of those stations in AM stereo back in 1985 when it first became available?
Hope you’ve been enjoying some network content in AM stereo since that was recently upgraded.
And for whilst you can before if/whenever 4WK has to move to FM or whilst the TX lasts.
I remember 4AK was in AM stereo but not sure about 4WK. I assume 4GR was but I’m not even sure about that. Their sister station 4MB never did as far as I can recall.
Nope, when Paul, Andrew and Myself put it in Stereo it was the first time it had been in stereo
It maybe again when they get hold of a old BE from one of the stations that are converting to FM
Test transmissions lasting around 2 to 3 hours long have started last Thursday on 90.5FM, simulcasting a mixture of the current 963AM Triple M Limestone Coast service & test tones.
And callsign confirmed from ACMA RRF as 5SE.
Still no registration for 101.7 Naracoorte.
Believe the intention is that the new FM site makes a Naracoorte repeater redundant.
SAFM 96.1 has a repeater in Naracoorte too (on 100.9).
Looks like 5SE is located at the same site as the ABC, and their apparatus licence is for 20kW. Whether SCA chooses to put out the full 20kW is obviously up to them, but if they do then coverage should be roughly on par with the various ABC FM stations broadcast from that site.
That said, 5SEF (SAFM 96.1MHz) is also licenced for 20kW from this site.
It’s a bit of a head scratcher as to why 5SEF has a repeater in Naracoorte when the ABC and 5SE don’t.
The ABC is 240kw and I thought 5SE had been allocated 101.7 in Naracoorte.
SAFM was previously at The Bluff - hence the Naracoorte repeater - but is also moving/has moved to Mount Burr to be co-sited with the new 5SE FM service.
My understanding is that 20kW OD from Mount Burr is expected to cover Naracoorte and so the 5SE FM allocation won’t be switched on (with a view to turn off the 5SEF repeater).
I noted that earlier today too whilst pursuing ACMA records, but not sure when this site change occurred.
It was after receiving your message earlier that I measured distances between The Bluff & Naracoorte Township vs Mt. Burr & Naracoorte & thought that with new 96.1 site along with 90.5 Mt Burr site, now closer to Narracoorte township, that maybe 101.7 no longer required?
As @radiohead said:
I thought that too.
Question I have:- During the planning process was 96.1 operating from Mt.Burr or The Bluff?
If 96.1 now provides sufficient signal to Naracoorte maybe 100.9 might be switched off in future, if it hasn’t already occurred. Lots of postulating from me…
104.9 Lime FM has also moved from Mt.Burr to The Bluff.
Definitely The Bluff. The Mount Burr move only came about as part of the 5SE conversion - the only reason I’m not 100% definitive on whether 96.1 has changed sites yet (aside from my not being in market) is because of the delays to getting 90.5 online.
SAFM is still broadcasting from The Bluff at the moment. Testing has occurred and the move will happen after communication goes out to the public and other broadcasters.
I’m amazed that 96.1 from day one was never at Mt Burr.
