I’d imagine Worst FM wouldn’t get into Townsville, but the Brownsville stations may get into Sharters Towers?

More likely, yes.

And that 95.9 is also used at Townsville North for Classic FM.

I have never received those Townsville North repeaters via Es. Cairns North is regularly received by comparison.

ABC’s Middle Brother quite strong tonight in Brisbane. General enhancement from Coffs as well. 2PM 93.5 and 102.3 hit Port Macquarie. Also had GGG Mt Dowe.

Not likely either with antenna facing northward from a large lattice tower, which would provide screening to south direction. Also a close hill in southward direction providing shielding to south. Plus low power. Odds not in our favour.

A bit like Gem FM Inverell which I have never received in Sydney.

nice strong tropo this morning into Sydney & Gosford. But only 2MBS could register RDS. Seems the XDR sony tuner has trouble reading RDS these days. Even 2DAY-FM at 3 bars could not read RDS.

A weak signal with talk faded in briefly on 100.7. Could not tell if Kempsey, Narrabri or Sale VIC.

weak Pulse on 94.1 from Wollongong

Got some country music on 93.3 mixing with Gosford. Turns out it was 2MNO! Since Brown Mountain was also in. No sign of XLFM/Snow FM due to Semi Local 96.1 and 97.7
Also enhancement from Middle Brother on 98.7

ive got some racing on 92.7 from the south as well… no idea where from

That would be from either Inverell or Port Macquarie.

That’s actually from Nowra. 2UUU has a translator at Ulladulla on 99.7.

I’d imagine when 2ST switches on its new 91.7 FM Nowra service from next Monday (1 Feb), you would be able to catch it during tropo.

Yeah only got it fleetingly before Mix92.7 swamped it, no station ID but was definitely racing

station these days have so many relays, its hard to keep track of where they are located. Community stations now have so many translators

BTW speaking of translators, the two at Bombala are still FM Mono (Snow FM / XLFM)

Got up at 0500 to check the tropo levels and it was mostly local stuff enhanced. 2UUU 92.3 was 2 bars strength. Had Power 102.5 Bega blasting in on the balcony last night along with strong 2MNO, but nothing from Launceston.

Speaking of that, I’ve noticed that 2UUU’s 92.3 translator has had their power increase from 10 watts to 200 watts granted as of the beginning of this month, according to this:
https://web.acma.gov.au/rrl/licence_image.extract_pdf?pLICENCE_NO=1170122/2

Also, I’ve noticed on the latest edition of ACMA’s Broadcast Transmitter Data that the ABC FM services from Mt Wandera (near Batemans Bay) has had a power increase from a maximum ERP of 40kW to 55kW. Even then, in the direction of Bungendore, it’s only transmitting at 5kW (previously 4kW).

I’m pretty sure 2UUU 92.3 has been operating at 200 watts since at least autumn 2020 as it’s permanent at the top of the hill near my place. On 104.5 I just get Star.

Some tropo into Newcastle as well. These were received whilst out in the car earlier. Most enhancements seems to be from the north at the moment.

HIT and Triple M Kempsey
Rhema and 2WAY Port Macquarie
ABCs from Armidale on 101.1, 101.9 and 103.5 (102.7 wasn’t there though).
ABCs from Coffs Harbour, with 99.5 RN strong enough to be received over Move FM Katoomba.
Only ABC from Central West Slopes was 106.3 News Radio.
Only ABC from the North West Slopes (Mt Dowe) was 99.1.

Nothing from HIT or Triple M Coffs Harbour though.

Best tropo along the NSW Coast looks to be tonight and tomorrow morning.

Just got my radio out on my desk and retuned it as I normally do, and starting from 108 MHz down, I stumbled upon Triple M 107.7 Central Coast.

And now Triple M 100.7 Mid North Coast.
