AM and FM DX

Unusual for me to be receiving 2ZZZ tonight over usually dominant ABC RN Wide Bay. Just clear enough for stereo.

Not DX, but maybe useful for dxers:

  1. 100.7 2WOW has returned to full power.
  2. 89.7 2RES remains off air & if you’re wondering why take a look at the antenna pics here:

No audio out of Voice of Islam transmitters (Sydney) on 87.6 at the moment.
Used SDR#'s Co-Channel Canceller to pull an ID from the country music station; River FM on 87.6

looks like my MWDX from the flat is now less likely as one of my “neighbours” has bought a device that’s creating a lot of QRM (like a TV or modem). Obviously they leave the thing on all the time…people never turn things off at the power point…grrrrr

Hate that. I unfortunately inflicted it on myself a little while back by changing all the old halogen downlights in the house to LEDs. Now the AM band is mainly just noise whenever the lights are on, even strong local signals are slightly affected.

So now it’s just DXing in the dark for me - kind of like the nerdy version of Bruce Springsteen

For the MW DXers.
756kHz RNZ National - Auckland shutting down tonight for maintenance. Maybe a dx opportunity for some?

I think that is usually 3RN Wangaratta or 2TR Taree anyway in my experience… for me here.

Yes, Auckland counts as DX on that frequency- in fact I don’t think I’ve ever positively confirmed it. It’s probably there weak in the mix with the dominant Aussies.

I hope so, looking forward to some NZ, Tasmanian, and northern QLD catches, which is generally 99% of my Eskip catches.
