Point Lookout is a great spot, opposite the gelato shop near the gorge walk, anywhere on that knoll.
2ZZZ and all Mt Nardi signals, 101.3 Ballina, 99.9 Byron, 103.5 ‘Mullumbimby’, all GC services including 104.1 and Rebel Media, all GC digital including nationals from Lwr Beechmont, River, all sub metro communities (99.7 the worst of course), all Bald Knob & Dulong Lookout. All Mt Coot-tha. Zinc 96 they’re too away from south facing slopes.
At other times, I’ve tried and received on the island the Passchendaele Ridge, Mt Mowbullan national services and weaker Mt Kynoch. 95.5 was stronger than 100.7 before 95.5 was moved and hobbled.
All on handeld Sony digital/FM radio.
The old club van of the Little Ship Club also receives 1629 Hot Country Dalby at One Mile. Trusty Toyota.
Family owned Straddie Flyer often has 7/9 GC News on if I take 5:30 service back.
Despite 4G/5G, wifi etc, the noise floor is low in most urban locations. Great for all bands.
Be sure to marvel at microwave tower in Dunwich, huge redundancy of dishes due to air and water temp variation, bending the signal.
Less GC/NSW at Amity yet still fun.
What’s appealing of Point Lookout & the ridge behind Dunwich, with good front to back ratio, you can receive ‘all of the channels’, FM co channel and UHF TV of Bald Knob, Mt Tamborine and Mt Nardi.
