OK, just had a play and yep I can also confirm. It’s actually Riverland Life FM who are transmitting the same broken PI code of FFFF, confusing everything. Not a great look on Life FMs side.
107.3 Flow FM Kingston SE, 2kW at around 360 km is a decent signal on the Mildura server too. That’s pretty good going.
Big signals into Brisbane from NNSW including Mt Doe HPON and GGG and 2NOW. Also Coffs and Middle Brother at good levels.
Mt Cenn Cruaich at low levels.
92.9 Triple J Hobart in on one of the Melbourne servers with a fair signal. The server is located a little north of Melbourne so it’s about 600 km. A recording is attached.
I find this time of year is excellent for Bass Strait tropo. Higher latitude areas have a tropo peak in late summer and early autumn. @Nick_G would know this from the UK.
The reason for this is the poleward position of the subtropical high pressure ridge at this time of year.
Subtropical disturbances and onshore winds mean that the same isn’t true for most of NSW and QLD which generally have an earlier tropo peak. In SE NSW we can have a February/March tropo peak in some seasons.
Some good tropo around tonight with strong signals from both the north and south.
Newcastle commercials with RDS decode. Newcastle national fm’s at local strength.
Power fm with RDS, weak 2ST on 91.7.
Wollongong Tv getting obliterated by CCI from Newcastle.
Just Newcastle and Port Stephens tonight down in the Highlands
And a bit of Middle Brother.
Earlier, I also had a weak GLFM in a null of Canberra.
Knights Hill DTV mixing with Mt Sugarloaf.
Some very good tropo on the Mildura server. I’ve been sat on 99.1 trying to work out what station it is that’s on there, and it’s Goldfields FM from Maryborough - 500 watts at >350 km. Very nice.
Edit - the spectrum shows the tropo nicely with all those signals:
That’s excellent. Some nice rare catches here too, would’ve been more if it weren’t for the local signals, but that’s life in the big smoke (Melbourne).
I noticed that there were several Melbourne signals on the Mildura server too, some with full RDS, as well as even stronger signals from Adelaide.
Adelaide to Melbourne is very good going.
89.9 ‘The Light’ into Renmark which is a new DX here
Strong signals into SEQ from NSw this morning as well. Mt Dowe commercials, Middle Brother, Inverell, Glen Innes etc.
Mostly just Tamworth ABCs and Mt Moombil into Bowral this morning. Both on the TEF and the car radio on the way to Mittagong.
One of which is ABC Classic on 103.1 next to semi local 103.2 (although 103.3 Goulburn is permanent as well)
That proves the selectivity of the TEF
Update: now getting JJJ Mt Cenn Cruaich 102.3. Plus from the north up to Mackay - reception of both Mackay MMM and Middle Brother on 98.7
