After-school game shows

I was only referring to Seven based content… Nine had another set of shows produced from Adelaide and Brisbane.

Humphrey Bear was an Adelaide icon… I believe there are still murals of him in the corridors at Channel 9 Adelaide.

Indeed they do in the new building, this is from 2015.

From this video:

Looking back at this now I really should reprocess that and upload a higher quality version.

Could it be possible that the lack of children’s television programming may have contributed to the lack of education in our children?
Most of these after school programs were somewhat educational with the kids using their spelling, geography, problem solving and reading to participate in some of these TV programs.

A bit of ghosting on that recording. The good ol days of analogue TV.

Not for this thread but, it has been noted that from this batch of recordings from the same recorder that it’s only Seven that has ghosting.

Channel Nine Adelaide showing repeats of kids game shows during school holidays and the Sydney 2000 games.

Apparently Diarmid Heidenreich (Dougie) was hosting Challenger and had his episodes recorded around late 1996 when he was still awaiting trial after he was involved in a car accident under the influence of alcohol and drugs earlier that year, when he was later found guilty, he was replaced by the well known Adrian DeVito and Zoe Sheridan.

Ol Dougie looked like he didn’t really want to be there when he hosted it. Well, that’s the impression I got anyway.

Yeah, Diarmid always seemed bored on camera.

On tonight’s edition of Glenn and Mick’s Celebrity Intervention, it was revealed that Jim Jeffries was a contestant on Vidiot - and went under his real name of Geoffrey. He said that he was a rollover contestant, and lasted five episodes. He won lots of prizes, including movie tickets and other items. The winner on episode 5 won a camcorder, which he narrowly missed out on.

I just looked up tv guides from around that era, I thought Dougie Howser MD was a straight replacement for Family Double Dare, but it appears The Wonder Years was the replacement.

Also 10 used The Wonder Years for a while in the C time afternoon slot. Did it actually fit in with the C classification?

Back on topic, Guess What aired from somewhere around 1992-3 on Nine and Time Masters in mid-90s on Seven

C-time game shows didn’t have actual prizemoney offered due to Australian laws on game shows for school-aged kids
