cracks definitely starting to show, but i still feel optimistic, only one loss but i’m sure we’ll bounce back
For the first time this season, Carlton has a blowout win. Normally their blowouts come in the form of second-half wreckage.
Worth noting that everytime Sydney won their Opening Round fixtures by 63 points against a Victorian team, they go on to win that year’s premiership and the team is runners-up 7 years later followed by a 3-peat. GWS was an exception in 2012 but Sydney won the flag that year
Hawthorn lost by 63 points to premiers Sydney in 2005, Swans won the flag, Hawks were runners-up in 2012 and won a 3-peat from 2013-15…Carlton lost by 63 points in Opening Round earlier this year
Carlton lost to Sydney earlier this year by 63 points
“Every time”, in this case, meaning ‘once’.
I could have sworn I told you to stop posting that sort of rubbish
Sydney’s loss means Fremantle are on top of the AFL ladder for the first time since 2015. (The Dockers were ladder leaders from round 4 onwards and never relinquished the position, finishing the 2015 season as minor premiers)
Surely worst case scenario for Carlton is winning. I’m glad to see port tanking.

GWS has kicked the highest scoring third quarter in V/AFL history (14.2.86).
And as a result of the extra stoppage time, the game won’t finish until close to 3:15pm est, when the Bulldogs v Demons match is supposed to start.
I heard during ABC Radio commentary that the AFL had advised that Bulldogs v Demons would not start until 3.18pm AEST, to avoid clashing with the closing stages of GWS v Brisbane.
Confirmed by Tom Morris/7AFL.
Not unprecedented, surprised they didn’t move it to an even 3:20pm
GWS kicked their highest score in AFL history, 26.10 (166), four points higher than their previous record of 25.12 (162) against Essendon, at Engie Stadium in 2023.
Toby Greene kicked five goals, taking over from former teammate Jeremy Cameron as the Giants’ highest ever goal scorer.
In the second match, Western Bulldogs defeated Melbourne by three points. The Bulldogs led by more than 30 points midway through the second quarter before the Demons fought back. There were four lead changes in the final quarter including Joel Freijah’s goal with four minutes remaining, which proved to be the match winner.
Brisbane find themselves in a similar position to 2001. Two losses with a big game against the ladder-leaders Fremantle at the Gabba
The 3:15 Dees were undefeated in Melbourne. However the GWS game delayed it by 3mins. So today’s game started at 3:18pm.
So I guess technically the 3:15 Dees are still undefeated in Melbourne ![]()
