If thats the sort of thing that needs to be apologised for, the game has lost its way
The Swans need to hang that quote in the rooms and use it as motivation - they should also be made to write to everyone of the 2005 winning side who turned up on Saturday night and apologise for not turning up for the club celebrating what was a momentus event in their history (and double apologies to Goodesy who turned up for that slop)
Well I did but in the link between a rabble and the bible above. I agree Iâm just saying that is why I think people thought he felt he needed to apologise. Most people wouldnât have even seen that link between a rabble and the bible. Many have linked those that support hamas as a ârabbleâ. Again most wouldnât even realise that, I personally donât see anything wrong with it itâs just a word. As you said it has a lot of different meanings. With that said the word âpoofâ also has many different meanings doesnât mean itâs right to use on a football field or to describe a team.
Interestingly, the 2005 premiership reunion fell just over twenty years to the day since Robert Walls famously said that they couldnât win the premiership after they lost to St Kilda by 43 points at Docklands Stadium (which I mentioned a few days ago).
In that match they kicked only 8.10 (58) from 29 inside-50s; coincidentally they would also kick the same score in their Grand Final win over West Coast.
That defeat proved a major turning point that season, and they would exact revenge on the Saints in the prelim with a 31-point win, in which they kicked seven goals to nil in the last quarter.
And I mean look at St Kildaâs Ross Lyon to Gold Coast last week ânepo babyâ and both Sunsâ coach and CEO Damien Hardwick and Mark Evans were not impressed, both publicly going on the record denouncing the comments.
Ahh he does it to get the hate and it worked. They are all acting like school children. But it adds excitement to the tension.
Nonetheless I donât think itâs a non issue . The only issue is the issue with fines and double standards by the AFL. They seem to pick and choose certain players based on skin colour rather than incident . Rioli cough Rioli.
The AFL is as little as a week away from appointing its new EGM of football performance, who will be an experienced club person with great credibility & competition-wide respect. @FootyonNine@9NewsMelb đ https://t.co/JNudQNFwR0
This has moved exceptionally quick, especially by AFL standards.
Greg Swann has told Brisbane he will be leaving soon to be the leagueâs new football performance boss. Heâll become the face of most key week to week footy issues. @FootyonNine@9NewsMelb@1116senhttps://t.co/AjcZiXlWio
For the first time since 2019, the E.J. Whitten Legends Game is BACK this year.
Thurs Aug 28 at Marvel Stadium is the date & venue which has been communicated to potential players. Retired stars + digital influencers will take part.
Final details being nutted out, but it will be called the '2025 Rule Prostate Cancer Legends Game.'
I had to do a double take. Not sure I remember the last time a Thursday/Friday standalone game featured two interstate teams. Only time it will happen all year.
Tipping a Geelong vs Adelaide Grand Final with Geelong eclipsing Portâs 2007 total and breaking records all the way - winning a Coleman Medal, Brownlow, Rising Star and AFLPA MVP
I noticed that Gold Coast suns are wearing pink jumper with charcoal shorts (instead of thr red shorts) as away, while Geelong wear white pants as home. Iâm not sure whether Gold Coast Sunsâ pink jumper is away jersey or clash.
Itâs a special jumper, they wore it in gather round too.
Geelongâs home kit is to wear navy blue shorts, but they often opt to wear the white shorts to maximise contrast with teams wearing dark coloured kits in particular.
I honestly canât see any team beating Collingwood. Collingwoods current side is the best team I have ever watched. It makes me so annoyed to see them doing so well.
7Newsâ Mitch Cleary reports exclusively that AFL CEO Andrew Dillon had a fireside meeting at the home of Geelong star Bailey Smith on Thursday. They were joined by Cats coach Chris Scott, chief executive Steve Hocking and head of football Andrew Mackie.
North Melbourne have made history at the Hands Oval, Bunbury, after beating the West Coast Eagles by 10 points. As an Eagles fan, it is heartbreaking to see a loss after leading by 11 points at 3 quarter time. The West Coast Eagles wasted a lot of opportunities during the match and couldnât kick straight. The North Melbourne have now got 3 wins, 8 losses and one draw and have climbed to 16th in the ladder.
Melbourneâs had some rain over the past few days, and the MCG surface tonight is showing it â not in the best shape. The heavy match schedule probably hasnât helped either.
