These are the matches of Round 1 to be covered by volunteer-run WARF (Women’s Australian Rules Football) Radio via the AFL website and AFLW app.

SEN, 3AW, 5AA and ABC coverage details to be confirmed later.

UPDATE 27/8: 3AW will only broadcast Geelong v Melbourne this Saturday night. Matt Granland and Tony Leonard will call play-by-play, with expert commentary by Georgie Parker, Sarah Burt on the boundary, and Emilia Fuller again hosting.

The broadcast schedule for this week’s opening round of 2024 AFLW season was updated this afternoon. The GWS-Bulldogs match is the only one that won’t have any radio coverage. FiveAA will cover Power v Crows in Adelaide on Saturday night, while Essendon v Fremantle will broadcast into WA via NIRS. The only game covered by SEN this week is the season opener between Sydney and Collingwood this Friday night.

ABC Radio is scheduled to broadcast seven matches this round.

Minor change to the WARF Radio coverage. No longer doing Suns v Saints due to shortage of commentators caused by the QAFL and VFL finals also being on.

Incredible how SEN can send a niche commentary team targeting only one-eyed supporters of one team to the ground, yet Fox and co insist on calling the games off the TV from South Melbourne.
