AFL Coverage

SEN has this betting oriented coverage on 1116, it’s nonsense as they don’t even relay the audio of votes being read out.

SEN Fanatic on DAB+ and the app looks to be a different, better coverage, have just switched on so waiting to see if they relay the audio of the count properly. It’s also being relayed on SENQ Brisbane so if you have a smart speaker you can ask for SEN 693 to get that coverage.
Edit: yep, the SEN Fanatic/SENQ coverage is relaying the audio of the count.

Interesting Leigh Matthews won’t be doing special comments on 3AW. Can only assume he’s slowly transitioning into retirement. Last year AW had Jimmy, Llordo and Leigh all doing special comments.

Leigh will still be part of 3AW’s pre-match coverage (from 10am AEST) but after that he will be watching the match in the stands.
He is spending all this week in Melbourne. He went to the Brownlow Medal on Monday night and was in the 3AW studio for his weekly appearance on Wide World of Sports yesterday.

He’s involved in Seven’s coverage too:

Maybe Leigh will present the Premiership Cup to Chris Fagan?

Nah he won’t get the opportunity…

The AFL confirmed today that if Brisbane win, Leigh would present the premiership cup to Chris Fagan. If Collingwood win, it will be Peter Moore.

Leigh could’ve done it for both Clubs really

Last night, for the first time, I was the host of an #AFLW broadcast. A dream come true really. Stoked to have taken up the reigns of hosting for @3AW693 Footy for the remainder of the @aflwomens season, bring it on. pic.twitter.com/BsXMx5n7Go

WARF Radio end the #AFLW Home and Away season with a bang, bringing you five games live this weekend, including four in-a-row on Saturday. Sunday’s broadcast will be our 42nd and last call of the #AFLW season. Each call being 100% volunteer produced and all live from the ground.

3AW are only doing 1 out of the 4 games this weekend (Gold Coast v Sydney) according to their website. I find it interesting that a Melbourne-based station is broadcasting a final between two non-Melbourne teams as their only game?

ABC Radio will cover every match of 2023 AFLW finals series, starting with Adelaide v Brisbane this afternoon. It can be heard on ABC News Radio and ABC Listen app.
Some finals will also be broadcast on 3AW (see above), FiveAA, SEN/AFL Nation and NEMBC.

SEN doing a rare one-hour pre-game show for the AFLW Elimination Final between Geelong and Essendon. Strangely, they won’t be rolling straight into Melbourne v North afterwards, but into SEN Track programming.
