With all 10 Victorian teams now in interstate hubs, this will be the first time 3AW commentates all its allocated matches off the TV.

Triple M coverage for Round 6

Thursday night’s Geelong-Brisbane clash will be broadcast on Triple M in Brisbane but not Sydney, even though it is held at the SCG.

EDIT 9/7: Fox Sports’ Sophie Clapin is boundary reporter for ABC’s coverage of Cats-Lions clash.

Corbin Middlemas twitted that he was in a studio to call the Bombers-Kangaroos match. Or was it a board room? Also this confirms that they do use a clean Seven feed.

West Coast-Adelaide clash at The Gabba was also called from the same studio in Melbourne with the Saturday team of Alister Nicholson, Matt Clinch, Adam Ramanauskas and Mark Maclure. The Queensland team led by Quentin Hull was at Metricon Stadium for the Fremantle-St Kilda match, they couldn’t be at two different places at once.

I wonder if the Perth crew will do the Geelong v Collingwood match and the Western Derby. That allows the Saturday team of Alister Nicholson, Matt Clinch, Adam Ramanauskas and Mark Maclure to do one of theS aturday games from the studio(although i could see a NSW based crew do the Swans-Suns match.)

Error in the Sunday schedule: the early game is Carlton v Port Adelaide. Port Adelaide beat GWS last round.

Triple M coverage for Round 7. The Mix 94.5 team, led by Dennis Cometti, is calling Geelong v Collingwood for Triple M in Adelaide and Melbourne, but the call won’t be broadcast in Perth.

Interesting. Makes me wonder then if that was the plan once the match was moved to Perth. Makes more sense to have the Mix 94.5 team, led by Dennis Cometti and Lachy Reid to call the match rather than a Melbourne based crew do it in the studio.

Australian Financial Review senior writer John Kehoe is calling this afternoon’s clash between Sydney and Gold Coast at the SCG for ABC Radio, alongside Brett Sprigg, Neil Cordy and former Swan Heath Grundy. According to John’s Twitter, he’s also a sports broadcaster.

I’d be interested to see which stations carry every match during this mad dash. MMM might be in a better position, because they have call teams in every state.

ABC won’t be too keen to broadcast matches on Monday-Wednesday nights, because it means the Local Radio evening shows won’t be heard on analogue in Victoria, SA and Tasmania.

Was thinking SEN, as they don’t have the issues that ABC does about the Local Radio evening shows won’t be heard on analogue in Victoria, SA and Tasmania

Maybe the AFL matches would be on digtal?

This is where ABC can offer a alternative in the southern states. Keep the evening shows on analog, and put AFL on DAB.

I bet it’ll be the other way around. Bear in mind does their rights agreement even cover all of these matches?

I don’t think the current radio rights agreement covers matches on Monday to Wednesday nights as they have been scheduled in exceptional circumstances. It will be up to the AFL to explain which radio stations in Melbourne will broadcast which games.

3AW covered every match in the most recent round, so maybe the AFL is allowing them all to call whatever they want through this period?
