Was he actually doing the “play by play” type commentary or just special / expert comments?
Just wondering, If they are actually there…Sound abit like a TV call thus far.
Would make sense, since JB will do the St Kilda v
Melbourne match on 7. AFL Nation might be there.
Sounds like BT maybe in Launceston, but sounds like Ash, JB, the Duck and Billy are possibility in Melbourne. Quite disjointed call, the Tassie based guys talking over the Melbourne guys.
Think last North Game in Hobart, they did the same thing.
Isn’t that kinda normal for Triple M?
No benefit splitting the team, likely all in Melbourne.
Maybe, but BT certainly sounded different to the rest.
If the bosses at triple M have a listen back, I am sure they will go…Mmmm thats abit rubbish.
Nah, they were all in Melbourne pretending they were in Launceston. Really shits me that both Triple M and AFL Nation do it regularly, even more so this year than last year. Obviously feeling the pinch financially to do it week in, week out.
Can’t remember a game where anyone has split up the call team either. Makes no sense to do that. Only one I can think of was Terry Wallace had a flight cancelled last year but I think they just called the game without him. Or when they send a boundary rider to the game (a la Luff today) and the call team is in the studio. But that is only occasional.
If anything, BT would be more likely to do it down the line from his lounge room in Romsey.
MMM does take the local feed for games in SA/WA/QLD/NSW, no?
This weekend’s NSW game was most likely covered from Melb due to the timeslot with Syd based Troy Luff boundary riding.
ABC a lot of times has their guys do double duty in traveling.
Can’t remember the match, but when there was fog in Sydney Matt Clinch, who had made it to the ground a lot earlier before anyone else did, called the match by himself till the rest of the team arrived.
I don’t remember even suggesting the ABC did it. In fact, they were very upfront about not being in China. So I’m not sure why you’re mentioning them doing double duty?
On Ch7 Sunday (Swans v Cats), BT mentioned that he was in Tasmania the day before when talking with phil davis about the previous days’ matches. Not sure that’s something he’d make up, when he has no reason to even bring it up.
Prolonging the illusion?
There’s not 15 L’s at the start of Jake Lloyd’s surname but Brian mentions it like that all the time, so it’s not like he doesn’t make shit up all the time. He’s mentioned being somewhere he wasn’t previously (Townsville springs to mind), not sure why you would but there you go
Round 20, they are doing both Sunday Melb matches. So someone like Ben Cameron may cover the Blues-Eagles match.
Or they’ll use the callers they have…
After all, all of Nicholson, Middlemas, Clinch, De Stoop, Mayes work for ABC and all regularly work Sundays. I mean, not like they haven’t done this several times this year.
It’s like a broken record this place sometimes.
-For round 23, almost safe to say that 3AW and MMM will over the West Coast-Hawthorn match via heir Perth affiliates, as the other match at 7.25 has 2 interstate teams.
Look like Dwayne Russell wont be covering the GWS v Hawthorn match in Canberra. Matt Granland is doing that match with Bruce Eva. Seems to me that Dwayne doesn’t cover interstate matches.
Once again, MMM in Melb is airing mote matches than 3AW…For example, they are airing the last 3 quarters of the Eagles-Crows match from Perth, which AW wont touch, and the full match from Brisbane on Saturday…
