The Bulldogs will play two home games per season for the next three years after inking a new deal with Visit Victoria and the City of Ballarat this week.
Next season will see Port Adelaide travel to Ballarat to face the Dogs in round eight, before Adelaide makes the same trip in round 18.
The deal will also include an AFLW home game at Mars Stadium each season.
I wonder if that will be an Adelaide club as well. Probably a good idea to host the SA clubs, not much of a drive, be a good weekend away for Crows and Port supporters, great for the local economy in Ballarat.
The video-led campaign is supported by a national cinema buy across more than 300 locations, and will be extended across AFL PLAY social channels, “with a variety of content from health and fitness to music, dance and trends”.
I thought the Swans would be higher, with some of their success being allegedly due to the controversial COLA salary cap allowance, even though it’s been replaced in recent years.
Yeah youre right. You’d think with the Swans being the most popular sporting team in the nation, and the most popular in Australia’s history, there’d be more detractors out there. But the Swans are our version of the Dallas Cowboys.
Probably since 1982.
Although officially, for the past 18 years.
The Swans were the first sporting club in Australia to break free of their suburb, their city, their state and become Australia’s first truly national sporting club. Adopting the name ‘The Swans’ to broaden their appeal, they soon became Australia’s ‘TV team’ with all home games from the SCG beamed all around the nation on Sunday afternoons.
Still doesn’t make them Australia’steam - it just happens to be that unlike Melbourne, which has ten teams.
Sydney only has two teams, and the Swans also have been there since the 80s, unlike GWS, and also would have some supporters in Melbourne from their South Melbourne day’s.
