Big Joe what a way to sign off!

Sydney ended up closing the gap to 60 points, however, there was very little they could’ve done after half-time.

Today, the Lions roar was heard throughout the G, and right across the nation.

Emotional scenes between Chris Fagan and Leigh Matthews after the final siren.

Couple of quick facts:
Chris Fagan becomes the oldest VFL/AFL premiership coach at 63. He is also the first premiership coach to have never played in the top level.
Since the start of the 21st century, Sydney and Brisbane have both played in six grand finals. The Lions have won four and lost two, while the Swans have won two and lost four.

Yeah I got that one wrong. I felt that match was always bulldogs though.

Who else gets the credit? I think all the credit goes Brisbane’s way. They too have battled mcg demons, finals heart break and were dead and buried in the semi final. Huge effort to win the grand final. They are also the best team according to champion data

Brisbane also had to play all three finals to get into the Grand Final, unlike Sydney who got a week off to recover.

One wonders if Sydney v Geelong again might’ve been different this time and gone the Swans’ way, after all, that’s the game and team that was on their minds from 2 years ago… I think we underestimated how devastating and bitter that thrilling loss to Collingwood was for Brisbane last year. If so, unfortunate. But amazing none the less for the Lions and like I mentioned, win-win for the AFL and Seven in part, given Brisbane.

Brisbane winning from outside the top 4 is remarkable. The winner of the Grand Final was always going to be the winner of the Geelong-Brisbane preliminary final.

Full credit to Brisbane and Chris Fagan

As a Brisbane Lions fan - I’m so so happy how this group of players developed from 2019 until now, with a few free agent signings on the way.

It was a difficult 21 year wait for the next premiership - and now us Lions fans can reap the rewards.

As a neutral fan, I was very happy of the Brisbane Lions. They started the season with 0-3 but rebounded and made the finals. They beat the Carlton Blues at the Gabba in the Elimination Final. A week later, Brisbane came from 44 points behind in the third quarter to beat GWS Giants by 5 points. A week later, Lions beat the Geelong Cats by 10 points in the Preliminary Final. And went on to win the 2024 Grand Final. Chris Fagan has done an excellent job as the Lions coach. From last year’s heartbreaking loss to Collingwood to redemption. Well done Brisbane Lions.

It’s a tough one. I don’t even feel comfortable sacking a coach that consistently makes finals. But there is clearly something Sydney are doing in the lead up that isn’t working. They were the best team all year, they fixed their first quarter problems and really didn’t have a lot of flaws in their game.

What do you think they should do?

Keep John until they reach the GF then replace him that week? lol

In all seriousness I really don’t know. It’s such a hard one cause he’s getting them all the way to end and that shouldn’t be discounted. I’d hate to be in the Swans camp right now.

It’s a very difficult situation to approach.
