Yeah, nah. I don’t think that would be a good match for either station, listeners or talent. Magic may have made more sense but I think that development came after Ace were controlling Magic and their move to MP had been announced.

2UEs weekday slots are well sorted and fine by me … i couldn’t care if it was voice tracked from Mexico (well Melbourne anyway). Voice tracking is a given for this format at this stage … and it is well done by ACE. No hint of any Mexican flavour. Plus Trevor Sinclair at breakfast as a long time Sydney identity. Consistency for this format is the key. Trashing the format so jarringly with AFL on the weekends is disgraceful…

Just flicking thru 2ue and 3MP websites and see the legend Mark Irvine pulling some “voice tracked” night shifts. How long has he been on for? I believe he lives on the Gold Coast and does a drive shift on a community station. Remember his from early 3MMM days

I’d like to see 2UE introduce some light talkback. Bring back the 131 2UE number.
Anyone else think Sharina would be an alright fit for this current 2UE (and maybe even 4BH) on Sunday evenings?

Why would music stations need talkback? There’s enough of this for those who want it on the talk stations!

Yes agreed. Talkback would just water down any impact that the music has. 3MP need to stick to their format and promote themselves as a local music station. Maybe have a bit more energy from their announcers.

They have the Coodabeens on Friday afternoon, I’m not sure the need is there for NRL as well.

Well Rugby League has been on Radio in Melbourne(Arthur Higgins doing the commentary and talkback after the game on 3ak. Love the whinging by the Non-Storm Supporter on Biased commentary and that were right but it was good) however I did not think the Continuous call team is the right fit for melbourne as it is too suited for the Northern States and not on 3mp too

3MP has to stick to predominantly music. Any attempt to introduce more talk or sport will seem them sink back to Macquarie Sports or Talking Lifestyle levels.

Far from whinging. NRL would not suit 3MP for a moment. The Cretinous Call Team are best suited to NSW and Qld. I doubt they would stick their necks out (partly because they don’t have necks) and want to be heard on 3MP.

I don’t, but my point was made without having to be a listener. I don’t watch Sky News After Dark but I know what goes on there is very much against what I believe. I don’t believe a music station should broadcast sport especially that which is not their “local” code. By the way I’m not against the NRL, just incase interstate people think I’m biased. I lived in Sydney many years ago and followed the North Sydney Bears until they were dumped from the competition.

If 3MP is networked with 2UE and 4BH on Sundays Only, Magic 1278 is Networked with Both Stations in Saturdays, which is a bit Confusing.
