Kate told the Herald Sun that it was hard to walk away from the successful A Moveable Feast when she opted for new challenges away from 3AW, but her former colleague Ross Stevenson was supportive of her new show.
A shame ACEâs budget isnât bigger⊠they could really capitalise with having John Burns and Steve Price pop up on their station.
Canât really hear either of them back announcing Love is Blue. Burns maybe, but Iâm not sure Price is the demographic MP are chasing.
Well it wouldnât be Priceyâs first time on 1377AM.
Comment from Brad Smart.
Thereâs some missing history in there that Brad Smart appears to not be aware of. In 2016 the station went from being 3MP to Classic Rock Radio. This was actually prior to the Crocmedia/PNW merger so before Craig Hutchison began his influence on the station.
It was also SEN+ prior to the commencement of SEN Track. Brad appears to jump straight to the SEN Track history.
Initially, 3MP was left alone playing oldies music, as Crocmedia continued to build its sports media empire, which has recently become the Sports Entertainment Network.
SEN programming expanded to a second stream when Crocmedia struck a deal with the racing industry.
The new programming feed, SENTrack, was carried in most areas on the expanded AM band, 1611-1701Khz, or on FM narrowcast frequencies, but in Melbourne, with 3MP at its disposal, SEN was able to give its racing clients access to city-wide coverage.

From Radioinfo:
Jon Vertigan who for the last 18 months was the ACE Content Director, will now focus on Easy Music 3MP only from a programming point of view as the network moves to re-establish the once iconic 3MP brand and format.
He also said 3MP was in decline in the 1980s and 90s when really that was its boom period as Easy Listening and it was sitting at the top of the ratings. But the main point of his article I think still stands, that ACE have got the ability to make it work.
Absolutely. Itâs strange to run a metro station like a regional but itâs exactly the approach require here, helped by itâs semi regional status being focused on the Mornington Peninsula. ACE run a lean operation - most of 3MPâs operation has been sourced from existing staff and resources, so the mark they have to hit to be successful is much lower.
Based on the approach used for TRFM/Gold1242 I wouldnât be surprised if 3MP took a back to the future approach and openned a small studio and office in or near the Bayside Shopping Centre. That way they could replicate the mini-OBs from sponsoring businesses that TRFM/Gold1242 often undertake during the day and have a base for local sales staff. Whilst ACEâs St Kilda Rd premises are convenient for the agencies, it would be a right royal PITA for servicing direct sales along the Mornington Penisula.
Aâint gonna be Quite Easy for 3MP to gain Melbourneâs Radio Ratings like it did back in the Early 90âs, Even Magic has Returned to itâs Greatest Hits which 3MP had Prior to October 2016.
3mp could really make some money out of lifestyle content on weekend mornings. And maybe an hour of sport with the main AFL stuff and then the local peninsula sports covered off as well with in it. Throw in four or five songs an hour and youâd really help build that relationship/identity with the community/audience.
Re Burnso - they could give him an hour a day. 9 til 10. Have a chat about whatever the topics of the day are. Call Burnso. Still play a few songs.
Thatâs exactly what I suggest about Alan Jones and 2SM. Just prerecord and give decent content to a struggling station.
please NO Burnso or Pricey on 3MP - it should be a shock jock-free easy music format for the Peninsula.
Saw a half-page ad on 3MP in todayâs Herald Sun. Ace Radio needs to promote the station more often.
Theyâve been sponsoring TV traffic copter reports on various channels too. So theyâre spending some money on promotion.
What 3MP shall do is Have an 60âs and 70âs Lunch (The Peak of the Beautiful Music era) to play the Songs that Baby Boomers can remember through their Childhoods.
The feedback on the Coodabeensâ Facebook page appears to be negative around the new timeslot (4-6pm Fridays)
Big mistake. How can you build a music radio station then take a two hour slab out for a talk fest? Especially one thatâs based on footy and is more suited to community / ABC radio.
