ABC Adelaide also confirmed today that the ABC’s coverage will not be available online, on TV, or channel 25.
Sonya and Jules are still doing their breakfast show from Adelaide - given they are reportedly the only reporters allocated to the coverage (besides those who are there for news), they’ve only got a few days to be there before the opening ceremony.

Try to see if you can receive a regional station - especially if your in Sydney (ABC Central Coast and Illawarra) or Brisbane (Gold Coast).
Will be easy at night when a lot of the coverage occurs to pick up an regional ABC station on AM as well.

ABC Radio will have Olympics updates during half time of AFL and NRL matches on the next two weekends, especially for regions who don’t receive ABC commentary.

Out of interest this was the AFL commentary lineup today with so many of the main callers on Olympic duty.
Chris Rowbottom and Michael Mayney called in Tassie
Clinch and Bryans called the Saints v Bombers game at Docklands
Peterson and Webster called GWS v Melbourne.
No sure who called with Michael Price in Queensland or who called the Derby with Mitch Turner.
Brett Sprigg and Andrew Moore called the NRL. Not aure who called the other game.
Aaron Bryans was going to do the SA Grandstand show from Melbourne, but there was a delay with flights, meaning Neil Cross got the call at the last minute to host the show (from Adelaide).

Looks like Nine didn’t realise that when negotiating the deal to prevent listeners in their stations markets to not be able to access the ABC’s coverage.
It has been mentioned that people in metro areas where ABC isn’t broadcasting can get fortuitous reception of ABC stations from adjacent areas. Like ABC local FM stations in Illawarra, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast etc as well as AM stations especially at night.

Update Sonya and Jules made it to Paris on Friday - Spence Denny filled in on Thursday and Friday.
The ABC Sport Daily podcast, hosted by Patrick Stack, features chats with ABC Radio commentators and post-race interviews with Australian athletes and their families (Patrick acknowledges Nine for providing those extra audio clips). However recordings of actual race calls are not included in the podcast episodes, due to Nine having exclusive digital rights.
But most people won’t know how/that this is an option so it’s not a massive issue for Nine.

Although it did make a few listeners angry in my area that like to listen to Evenings or Nightlife on ABC Radio and not want to listen to Olympic coverage.
ABC Radio has secured the rights to all Australian Cricket - including Men’s and Women’s International’s, and the Big Bash League - Brett Sprigg mentioned this on the BBC World Service’s Stumped podcast (which is produced with the ABC).
Yes it was posted in Cricket on Radio thread last week.
Brett Sprigg mentioning the new rights in a BBC podcast however means the ABC’s cricket broadcast this summer will again be available on BBC Radio (probably 5 Live).
I have enjoyed the ABC Olympic coverage. The mix of Hull, McAvaney and Gainsford -Taylor has been great for the Athletics. Hull often seems a bit flustered but I think there is so much going on with Track and Field that he is just trying to keep on top of things.
