And that’s finance
All the best to Alan in retirement. Big loss to the ABC, always enjoyed his finance reports when I saw them.
Wonder who’s gonna replace him
Usually David Chou does it when Allan isn’t so i’d assume him.
Daniel Ziffer does a much better job IMO.
Wonder if the abc would give Carrington clarke a shot at presenting the finance segment
Alan Kohler plans podcast with son Chris as he retires from ABC
Speaking to Mumbrella, Kohler said he planned to continue writing for finance publications, including his column for Intelligent Investor, as well as his Money Cafe podcast.
He is also planning to launch a new podcast with his son, Nine finance editor Chris Kohler, which will be named “Kohler and Kohler”.
Asked about his favourite ABC managing director, Kohler nominated Mark Scott, who he described as a friend, while also saying: “I really like Hugh Marks too.”

Ok, so maybe we might finally be seeing Tamara in VIC again?? We have had some false starts though!!
Nope it’s Ben in the guides for next week.
FYI there’s been no false starts. It’s just the posts here are not mentioning the bulletin as Ben is now listed on iview as a main presenter.
ABC official guides are listing Tamara as presenting
Yeah meant more false starts on our part where some of us have thought she was back but then the information updated lol
Fauziah Ibrahim taking over the special coverage of the crowd crash in Newcastle from Melisa Mackay at 1pm.
EDIT: Mel returning at 2pm.
Gemma Veness reporting from John Hunter Hospital.
Ben Knight is reading the news on ABC Radio Melbourne this afternoon so I don’t think he’ll be on at 7pm tonight.
Is Tamara actually back this time?
Yep. She did the 7pm bulletin preview on Charlie Pickering’s ABC Radio Melbourne drive show.
We need the sirens ![]()
Former ABC News presenter, Richard Morecroft has died.
Caps from news report
From ABC
Richard Morecroft
All at the ABC will be saddened to hear of the death of Richard Morecroft.
He was a great friend, an admired colleague, and a firm favourite with audiences.
Richard was best known for presenting the ABC’s NSW 7PM News bulletin for almost two decades, from 1983 to 2002, always with calm authority and gentle humour, a trusted and reassuring voice.
His other roles at the ABC included presenting Behind the News, co-hosting The National and leading election-night broadcasts.
ABC Managing Director Hugh Marks: “Richard Morecroft was one of the great broadcasters of his generation.
“His intelligence, warmth and professionalism, beamed into homes across Australia for almost two decades, made him a trusted presence in the lives of Australians and an enduring part of the ABC’s history.
“Our thoughts are with his family, friends and former colleagues.”
ABC presenter Leigh Sales: “To those of us who worked with him in the Sydney ABC TV newsroom of the 1990s Richard Morecroft was not only a consummate presenter, he was a true gentleman – generous and courteous to a fault.
“His kind nature revealed itself in many ways – from the baby possum he nurtured inside his suit jacket for a period while reading the news, to the way he would seek out newly arrived junior staff to welcome them to the team. He was universally admired and respected.”
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Richard’s loved ones.
