Former Foreign Correspondent Zoe Daniel has started her new National reporter role this week.
Wonder why?
Itās the cesspit of social media attracting the most vile people.
I would imagine reading constant negativity directed at the ABC or himself would be a major reason to avoid twitter.
Nas Campanella takes up new Disability Affairs role
After seven years as one of the voices of triple j News, Nas Campanella is embarking on a newly created role in ABC NEWS covering disability affairs.
We believe itās the first time in the Australian media a journalist with a lived experience of disability has held a round specifically dedicated to disability.
Nas has been covering the public hearings into the Disability Royal Commission for ABC NEWS, providing insightful analysis across radio, TV and online. Her work was praised by the Commission Chair in his closing remarks in the last public hearing.
She will continue reading news for triple j before moving into the new position soon.
āOf course Iām sad to be leaving triple j. It has been my home for the last seven years,ā Nas says. āIāve shared some special moments with the audience and theyāve been a huge part of my life.
āBut I couldnāt be more thrilled to be taking on the role of Disability Affairs Reporter. I want to provide a platform where the voices of people living with disability are heard. I want to support the disability community to share their experiences the way they wish to tell them. And I want them to feel represented and empowered.
āThis is also an opportunity to educate people about the expectations, assumptions and barriers too often placed on people living with disability and Iām very proud to do this with the ABC.ā
Nas, who is blind and has a neurological condition which prevents her reading braille, started at the ABC as a cadet in the Sydney newsroom and went on to become a senior journalist and producer. She has reported from regional and metro areas for programs and teams including triple jās Hack , Audio Current Affairs and ABC Life.
But her work extends well beyond reporting. Nas spearheaded the design of a Disability Awareness Training program for ABC staff and led the development of the organisationās Disability Editorial Guidance Note.
She has also worked with ABC International Development on aid projects in the Pacific, filing on location for ABC NEWS and implementing training programs for people with disabilities and the UN.
She has spent the better part of a decade working with disability organisations in various capacities, giving her extensive contacts and knowledge of the sector.
About bloody time too. Nas is great, good on her.

Ticky Fullerton second from the right on the bottom row.
Thanks
If Iām not mistaken, itās Matt Cargill.
Thank You
Yep, itās Matt Cargill without glasses. He presented the short-lived News Exchange program on 24 for a few years. Heās still at the ABC though, heās just barely on cameraā¦
ABC Sport recruits Tony Armstrong
ABC Sport has recruited some great new talent with former AFL footballer Tony Armstrong signing on as a presenter/producer from Saturday 6 June.
Armstrong has played with the Adelaide Crows, Sydney Swans and Collingwood and last year became the first Indigenous play-by-play caller on commercial radio.
He takes up a dual role at the ABC, presenting sport on the ABC NEWS channel and on the weekends joining ABC Grandstand.
āI couldnāt be more excited to start with an organisation like the ABC,ā Armstrong said.
āTheir rich culture and standards will provide me with the perfect setting to take my broadcasting and presenting to the next level.
āIām grateful to Triple M and in particular Ewan Giles for giving me my start, along with Lee Simon, Brian Taylor, Barry Denner and everyone else who gave me help and tips along the way. I wish them all the best for the future.
āI must also make mention of Andrew Underwood and the AFL Indigenous Broadcast where I cut my teeth and will continue to call in the future.ā
ABC NEWS Sport Editor James Coventry said Armstrong would bring a range of skills to the ABC.
āTony is a versatile media performer who can report, commentate and present,ā said Coventry.
āWe think heās one of the rising stars in Australian sports media and are delighted with the appointment.ā
