I’d hazard a guess and say with 100 metres.
They’re building a set, bot an entire studio complex, that’s already been done.
Would we expect it to be like NSW, “half Star Trek and half Saturday Night Fever”, something slightly of lower quality than of NSW, something higher quality than NSW, or something completely different? After all, there is stiff competition in the Australian news set design market…
And plus, will it also take 4-6 weeks, like it did for NSW?
We know just as much as the questions you are asking.

Tonight’s Canberra News was an unplanned outside broadcast thanks to smoke haze setting off the fire alarm in the ABC Building.

The impromptu outdoor broadcast was praised by ABC News boss Gaven Morris and many others on social media.
Technical problems during the first 10 minutes of the Victorian bulletin this evening. First a live cross to Paul Higgins at St Kilda Beach had to be cut off early because there was no sound, then the sound was lost again towards the end of a report on Central Pier Docklands’ structural issue.
I was actually outside the ABC Canberra building in October, on my way to my hotel for a vacay!
ABC NEWS named Accessible App of the Year
The ABC NEWS app has been recognised as the Accessible App of the Year and the Government App of the Year at the Australian Access Awards.
The inaugural awards took place in Fremantle, WA last week, following the International Day of People with Disability earlier in the month, recognising work to implement accessibility in digital resources.
The event is a national celebration of organisations, designers, developers and content creators who are promoting and implementing digital access.
The ABC works extensively to ensure its content is accessible and inclusive.
The ABC NEWS App has been designed for use by everyone, including viewers with impaired sight, hearing, mobility and cognition.
The app is fully operable with Voiceover, Apple’s inbuilt screen reader, making it accessible for people who are blind. It also revolves to suit user needs (landscape or portrait mode) for people with limited mobility.
The ABC’s triple j app was also a finalist for Government App of the Year and Gerry Neustatl, the ABC’s Digital Accessibility and Inclusive Design Lead, was a finalist for Accessibility Person of the Year.

Obviously the TAS clock was running early as it appears Media Hub correctly left the TAS studio link open until right until 7.30pm as per the normal process. However, if the control had of looked at the “off air” monitor they would have noticed they were still on air….

Stephanie Zillman filled in for Amy Culpitt this weekend on the NT bulletin.
Stephanie is due to move to ABC News QLD within the next few weeks for 2020, along with Rosanna Kingsun at Nine Darwin going to Seven Brisbane at the same time.

When I saw Paul Higgins presenting tonight’s bulletin, I notice the white board on either side of the screen. Clearly a temporary studio.

Isn’t that just the usual light box surround? Does look whiter than usual though. The black next to the white however makes it look temporary.
