ABC New Year's Eve Coverage

The 9pm fireworks highlights from previous years had the hashtags #SydNYE and #sydney blurred

It would have been the City of Sydney’s own archive recordings, so they probably said sydney.com or something on them. The footage was 25fps, probably recorded from the web/international feed.

I was able to stream the NYE coverage live on Abc YouTube channel.

So far so good by ABC. Sad there’s no crowd.

That’s the watermark for ABC’s Asia-Pacific TV service.

They probably need to differentiate it between ABC America, being online and worldwide…

Should be back on commercial tv

Why? ABC do a great job with lots of local music artists.

…but we NEED Richard Wilkins and his botoxed face to welcome in the new year!

Charlie Pickering’s paralysed face, lack of emotion and stumbling over the auto cue isn’t enough for you?

I’m not getting any of that.

Commercial TV don’t want it and never did live coverage all night like the ABC are with the music. They’ve improved a lot over the years.

Vera Blue is KILLING it!

The ABC has done a good job in recent years. From 2 separate shows on either 9 or 10 to one big 4 hour television event on the ABC has shown how much the coverage has changed.

Nine had the rights between 1996-2005, 2009-12 and 10 had the rights from 2006-08. ABC has been the current rights holders since 2013.

YouTube live stream chat always delivers

Feel like over the past few years, the ABC has done a really good job making NYE ‘their’ night (if that makes sense) in a way other networks which have shown the Sydney fireworks weren’t able to do.

Reckon that’s largely due to the annual concert (in the case of this year, concerts) they broadcast - it’s just the perfect thing to put on and ring in the new year with
