Seems The Ashes is back on LR.
Cricket on the radio! ZZZZZZZZZ.
Presenter Annie Gaffney is leaving ABC Sunshine Coast after 23 years to relocate to WA.
Hear hear!
That said, itâs a very tough choice between Bridget Duclosâ banale mid-afternoon âguess the music/movie/whateverâ quiz on 3LO or the dreary dull cricketâŚ
That scratchy voice is so awful that Iâd rather slide on over to Gold 104.3 and hear Sussudio for the 11-millionth time.
Try 2sm, it makes duclose and cricket seem amazingly intelligent.
ABC Local Radioâs annual Giveathon raises over $1.2 million for Australians in need
The incredible generosity of ABC Local Radio listeners helped the 2025 ABC Giveathon raise more than one million dollars for OzHarvest and Tasmaniaâs ABC Giving Tree Appeal.
ABC Local Radio audiences have once again shown extraordinary generosity, stepping up to support Australians in need during a challenging cost-of-living period. Itâs a powerful reminder that the spirit and impact of local radio remains strong across the nation.
ABCâs Head of Capital City Network Anthony Frangi said: "The ABC Giveathon reminds us of the incredible generosity and spirit of our ABC Local Radio listeners. Their stories and support show the true power of radio to bring people together.
âWeâre continually inspired by the passion of our audience, whether theyâre sharing their experiences or digging deep to help others. Itâs a testament to the wonderful community that makes the ABC what it is.â
Providing much needed meals for those in need, OzHarvest founder Ronni Kahn said: "The biggest thank you to ABC and all your fantastic listeners! This was truly the most impactful way to connect communities across Australia to our cause.
âFrom stories and interviews to our volunteers and staff in every state answering the phones, there were so many heartfelt moments, but above all we can now deliver over two million more meals to people who need it most. Phenomenal!â.
Celebrating 37 years as Tasmaniaâs biggest Christmas charity, the ABC Giving Tree Appeal distributes donations directly to Tasmanian charities to purchase toys, gift cards and food hampers for individuals and families.
ABC Radio Hobartâs Local Manager Joanne Spargo said: "From small beginnings in 1988 with a call out for a small toy donation to transforming into Tasmaniaâs biggest Christmas charity drive, the ABC Giving Tree Appeal reflects the generosity of Tassie folk.
âEach year weâre blown away by those who dig deep for those in need and this yearâs 37th appeal is no different. We canât thank our listeners enough for making Christmas bigger and brighter for someone else in the community this year.â
Donations for both causes are still open. To donate to ABC Gives, click here to find your local station.
Breakfast host Ben Murphy to depart ABC Mildura Swan Hill
Ben Murphy has revealed he is leaving his role as ABC Mildura Swan Hill Breakfast host and hopes to land work in capital city radio.
Today, Ben quietly celebrated six years sober, a milestone he never planned to share publicly. But during his time on the local breakfast show, Ben made the decision to talk about it on air, not because it felt comfortable, but because it felt honest.
Since stepping into the Breakfast chair in March, Ben has become known for his energetic interviews and quick-witted on-air style. But it has been the vulnerable moments, talking candidly about his fatherâs cancer diagnosis, surviving an assault during a magic show in what had always been his safe space, and choosing sobriety, that have created the strongest connection with audiences.
Next week Caroline Wilson will be hosting mornings, with Jason Chong doing afternoons Monday and Tuesday (national programming from Wednesday), and Peter Goers on evenings.
Was also mentioned at the end of last nightâs evenings program that mornings producer and fill-in presenter Paul Gough will now be producing evenings.
ABC Perth on their FB reporting they are all going FM (720, RN and News) in 2026.
#BREAKING: In 2026, ABC Radio listeners in Perth can look forward to significantly improved audio quality when ABC Radio Perth, ABC NewsRadio and Radio National make the switch from AM transmission to FM.
ABC AM services will continue in regional and remote WA areas and the move to FM in Perth will not have an impact on the ABCâs commitment to emergency broadcasting or Parliament broadcasting.
The ABC will begin the transition to FM services in early 2026, with AM services ceasing shortly after our FM broadcasts are fully operational.
ABC Radio Perthâs new frequency will be revealed in the new year.
Ha! Itâs like DAB+ never existed.
According to ABC Perth website, Nadia Mitsopoulos will host mornings in WA next Monday, while the rest of the country gets Waleed Aly.
Local mornings programs continue next week - national week after
ABC Brisbane next week:

- Breakfast â Warwick Long
- Mornings â Waleed Aly
- Conversation Hour â Kirsten Diprose

I wonder why theyâre saying this when we already know itâs Local Radio on 102.5, RN on 103.3 and News Radio 104.1.
Because they donât want to field enquiries about why they canât hear stations on those frequencies yet.
Already sighted someone on Facebook complaining that they wonât be able to listen on their motherâs vintage wireless
along with the very helpful response of âoh well if you canât be bothered to learn how to use a new FM radio, perhaps youâd be interested in simply learning how to use a new AM radio retransmitter instead!â
I had no idea these existed. A hilarious thing to own
