Programming hasn’t been what I expected from the promos. Was hoping to see more Australian content (and less comedy).
The problem is they have so many shows still signed that they have to play through. At the end of their run/when their contract expires, they will be replaced by more ‘on-brand’ shows.

CONFIRMED:
ABC TV Plus as a linear channel will be shutting down in the not to distant future and be going 100% online.
Dear lord, the lunatics are running the asylum.
According to which source(s)?
I can’t say unfortunately. But it’s confirmed. Hence the Plus branding. Everyone that thought it sounded like an iView service was right. That’s why it was named as such, for its move online.
When’s it going to take place?
Seems weird to rebrand in its current form only to switch it off on onto iview a few weeks later.
Are you talking end of the year? 5 years?
The way it was described to me: it won’t be weeks or months… But also won’t be years.
So like BBC Three?
And what about ABC Kids?
Odd that it might move online. ABC Kids is popular on the telly. And where will some pf the niche shows go om tv? Not everything must go online…
Could it be iView changing names to ABC TV Plus?
It all sounds like speculation based on the name change. Maybe the long term plan is to have more programs available on the streaming service and less broadcast channels but that applies to all television I’d say.
Won’t 7 have kittens over the ABC using the name “plus”?
Truly bizarre to blow up the iview brand if that’s true.
I asked where the TV Plus Branding came from. I was told it will in the Not too Distant future it will cease to be linear and move online.
I was told nothing about ABC Kids or iView.
TV was added to ABC to make it clear it was not Radio / Kids / News etc
Apparently different people within ABC wanted different things.
TV Plus is a satellite television provider based in Melbourne who sell Balkan, Greek, Portuguese, Turkish and Spanish packages. Did the ABC just rip off the name?
Now this I’d believe.
I’d also believe that.
And these people need to either get over themselves, or get out.
(Sarcasm here)
'I wonder why they change the name to ABC NEWS from ABC News24?)
