ABC Family - Programs and Schedules (formerly ABC TV Plus)

The watermark looks ok. Maybe that is the size TV should be for the watermark on the main channel.

The correct solution would be to do as the BBC does and have separate logical channels timesharing on separate channels (as you can dynamically allocate bitrates per channel), but it’s probably too complex for the ABC to work out how to do this.

May still be called ABC Comedy on some Services until 7th January:

Regardless of our opinions about the channel name, can we all at least agree that the new graphics package for ABC TV Plus is an improvement on what was used for ABC COMEDY these past few years?!

Probably the best look the programming block (ABC2/COMEDY/TV Plus hasn’t really been much of a “channel” with only 7-8 hours on air per day) for adults on LCN-22 has had in at least a decade.

Yep, I agree.

Totally agree. That’s exactly what I came in here to say. Please fix it, ABC.

The entire concept of the channel is a vast improvement on ABC Comedy.

The only thing I’d change is the announcers’ voices on the channel. They’ve been transplanted from the youth oriented ABC2/Comedy channels with their dinky di rough as guts put-on accents when this is meant to be an addition to the mainstream channel.

Yeah, I agree about the voiceovers. Wonder if it’s cheaper to continue running the old ABC2/COMEDY VOs on TV Plus than paying a bit more for Bill Weaver, Jo Van Es and that other guy to do both channels?

Did I see somewhere that Doctor Who will be weeknights? I’m hoping ABC will be screening the original series.

The first episode of the modern Doctor Who (with Christopher Eccleston) aired tonight

Haven’t commented much on this relaunch but the use of “ABC TV” is just wack.
The name “ABC TV Plus” is also very offputting. As someone else mentioned, the first thing that I think of is a streaming service.

They should’ve just reverted to the name “ABC2” and kept the main channel as “ABC”.

Yeah, it’s hard to describe when saying that a program is on. Like when I said earlier to my wife “oh, Strictly Ballroom is on tonight on ABC TV Plus” and it was a bit of a mouthful to say, ABC Plus is about the shortest you can make it to still get the information across but it does sound just like 7Plus with the streaming then. ABC2 has already had a few lives, maybe it could have been resurrected for another one.

Yesterday’s TV Ratings Shares for the first day of ABC TV Plus was good. At 4.5%. Thanks to the Strictly Ballroom movie.

I love Spicks and specks, but its only so many times i can watch a particular episode. Umpteenth amounts of episodes at 7.30pm, but none of the new season from 2014 (with Josh Earl)?

We don’t talk about that season. :stuck_out_tongue:

Especially when they’re trying to have a revival of the product this year - I think that is one product they’re trying to bury and completely act as though it didn’t exist.
