Does the ABC really need to dedicate 2 channels (live) for question time?
Is ABC Me broadcasting Question Time at the moment?
Should either be news channel exclusive or main channel and news channel.
ABC Me isnt broadcasting Question time
Itâs not ABC Me. Itâs ABC TV and ABC News 24.
But they do some strange things sometimes. ABC Late News last night started at 11pm while ABC News 24 had a bulletin starting at 11pm also.
Two different presenters but presenting the exact same news clips. I flicked between the two channels and thr stories were running about 30-40 seconds after the other. How pointless is that? You could save money by just running an ABC News 24 bulletins on both.
First Day has won a prestigious Rose dâOr award in the children and youth category.
It and ABC video series Content were the only two Australian winners at this yearâs event.
New animated series 100% Wolf premieres on ABC ME at 5.30pm today.
I absolutely agree.
Looking at the audience shares for ABC Me, I think itâs time for ABC Kids to move to Channel 23 and air primary school/older kids content later in the day.
ABC TV Plus should just be normal programming both day and night (I think ABC Plus is a better name)
Channel names could be;
2 - ABC
20 - ABC HD
21 - ABC
22 - ABC Plus
23 - ABC Kids (or a name that can cover both - no 2 channel name shit)
24 - ABC News
I donât think ABC realises that the days of ABC3 being popular amongst the youth is over.
Sounds an old codger talking. ABC Me or ABC 3 has never had massive audiences but it provides a service.
Iâm actually 5 years old.
Sounds like the mutterings of a 5 year old.
Oh dear.
Despite that, I still think itâs better to be all on 1 channel rather than having all your multi-channel lineup only airing kids programming during the day.
Was ABC3/ABC ME ever that popular amongst the youth? Personally it wouldnât surprise me if there are people in the target demographic of ABC ME whoâd see the channel as a poor attempt to be as cool as Nickelodeon or (I know this one is no longer running, but stillâŚ) Disney Channel.
Yeah, I agree although no doubt parents (and kids) would complain if the two channels were merged into one.
There are times when your only choices of viewing across all ABC television channels are kids shows and news, so itâd be great if ABC TV Plus eventually became more than just a glorified programming block between 7.30pm and 2am-ish. But unfortunately I canât see the status quo changing anytime soon.
I do have to agree with that statement.
ABC 3 definitely was if I remember well, however the popularity spiralled down with the rebranding to ABC Me, and now, well - nobody watches the channelâŚ
Streaming. That is all.
Yes. The point I was trying to get across.
The ratings did not fall with the rebranding. Having a look at ratings in 2016, ABC3 was normally rating around 0.5-0.7%. Iâm seeing in the latest ratings ABC ME is still rating around 0.7%. Considering there are more channels in 2020 like 10 Shake and 9 Rush, you could argue ABC ME is doing better than it did in 2016.
If you go back to 2012-2014 you can see ABC3 was rating around 0.9%, so even then it wasnât huge.
The main channel doesnât does not shows âkids showsâ when ABC Kids and ABC ME are screening programs aimed at children and youth.
ABC Kids has the highest rating programs of any of multichannel. So why would you merge it with ABC ME and lose all those youth viewers on ABC ME?
How many potential adult viewers would you actually attract to ABC TV Plus in the afternoon? Will it be at the expense of ABC TV?
I used to think a merger was a good idea but admittedly donât watch much on either channel so it didnât bother me. When it was explained to me that ABC Kids and ABC ME bring a lot of viewers to the ABC, I could see the point of sticking to the way things are.
We definitely know thereâs an audience for programs on ABC Kids, since titles on that channel frequently make the Top 20 rated shows for multichannels and often receive higher audience figures than most (if not all) shows on the commercial network multichannels in primetime.
But ABC ME? Programs from that channel rarely if ever make the Top 20. Maybe there are ratings figures out there which suggest that ABC ME rates quite well in their target demographic of 6-15 year olds. In which case, this is great great.
However if the channel rates low even within its target demographic (as I suspect the case is), then Iâd probably suggest that the ABC needs to reposition the channel. When it began in 2009-10, somehow I felt that ABC3 was trying too hard to be perceived as cool as Nickelodeon and similar Pay TV channels amongst kids. While I havenât seen much on LCN-23 since the rebrand to ABC ME, the few bits that I have seen havenât done much to change that perception.
I actually feel that ABC isnât trying much to actually cater to the audience anymore, instead just slotting in whatever they can find. Iâd rather they try to cater, like in the days of ABC 3.
