) includes the 60 Mins reporters and Karl, so itâs more about cost cutting the higher paid stars. Regarding Leila, the assertion in the article was whether it was worth having her contracted with the network only in a fill-in capacity, when others can do that.

With Karl filling-in on ACA ahead of Deb Knight, one wonders if he would be the primary contender for the chair when Tracy retires.
Heâs doing well on Today with Allison Langdon so it wouldnât be a good move. Besides, Deborah Knight deserves a more prominent role on Nine.
Despite not being seen on-air recently I wouldâve still thought that Leila McKinnon is the presenter most likely to succeed Tracy Grimshaw when the time comes. Otherwise, why would Nine have bothered to build Leilaâs profile as a fill-in presenter on ACA for most of the past 14 years?
It helped she was with the boss most of that time and has since fell off the earth.

Donât think so. Nine are just trying to get their moneyâs worth to justify that eye-watering salary. Hence the Today, ACA and 60 appearances.
Doubt it. Leilaâs a good and reliable fill-in but, if Tracy leaves, they will want a recognisable name fronting the program. Jana Wendt, Ray Martin, Mike Munro, Tracy Grimshaw⌠Karl will likely be the current successor.
