Can’t say the current incarnation of Tracy at 9 is anywhere near what the past shows in this video.

The show (content) has deteriorated significantly over time. However that content equals big ratings.

Although to be fair, the quality of ACA’s content had been deteriorating significantly well before Tracy became main presenter. Plenty of dodgy stories made it to air during the Martin/Munro eras!

I’d personally argue that A Current Affair isn’t the ratings behemoth it once was, since ABC News has been reasonably close to (and on some nights, even outrating) Nine’s 7pm show in Sydney & Melbourne over the past 12-18 months.

Once Tracy goes, it would not overly surprise me if ACA eventually goes the way of Today Tonight: Ie, off the air completely with advertorials disguised as consumer reports continuing on Nine News.

Surprised Nine hasn’t dumped it already and shifted 7 O’Block back to the screens. It’d destroy Seven’s primetime line-ups.

When Tracey does retire Leila McKinnon should step into the role.

What? Why on earth would they dump ACA? It’s one of the networks highest rating programs and they’ve just added an extra night (Saturday).

This program isn’t going anywhere, anytime soon.

All year round? Doubt it. What if one of their reality shows bomb at 7pm and they’re stuck with it for 2/3 months.

Plus, you’re going to have most of ACA’s audience head to the other networks then.

Having reality at 7pm is a massive risk.

ACA is doing really well there for them 6 days a week. Such consistency.

Makes no sense to mess with that.

Seriously? You do realise the Block only airs for 3 months of the year, and only Sunday to Wednesday?

You really think 700k will tune in for RBT repeats or Paramedics at 7pm when the Block isn’t on?

Exactly. And what do they put at 7pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights?

Screams messy and inconsistent.

Will never happen.

Nine would be stupid to axe ACA. It is a solid performer as others have mentioned for 6 nights per week. It wouldn’t surprise me if they choose to trial 7-day schedule at some point.

Not only does it win its timeslot in total people it performs well in the demos. Nearly always beats Home and Away in the weekly numbers (despite H and A not airing on low rating Friday). Often beats The Project 7pm in 25-54.

It’s also a relatively cheap program to produce compared to others in the same timeslot. Win win.

I can’t see them doing Sunday nights anytime soon considering the last time they did Sundays it didn’t last long at all and Nine’s current Sundays are very strong with reality + 60 Minutes + Late news.

It works for Saturdays though when there’s literally nothing else on at the same slot other than ABC and SBS News.

Did Karl leave any message? We know how he is with previous cohosts.

Just saw a promo for A Current Affair tonight, and just realised that Deborah Knight doesn’t have an end board, as Tracy was featured. Just seemed a bit odd

What’s weird about it? There’ll be some contractual agreement that Tracey is the face of ACA.

Same thing when Nine Gold Coast News says “with Bruce Paige and Eva Milic” in the intro even though only one of them is presenting.
